Which Louisiana brewery won more awards at the US open beer championships?

I get why this isn't a metric people care about...and sadly I don't think people who don't live here and can't get the limited release stuff can really understand how bigly GRB is crushing it

Great thing for exposure but...and this is my opinion, im sure you'll disagree, but is winning medals at competitions the thing that makes them the state flagship???

Its a great way for microbreweries to get name recognition and validation to their beers, but...again this is my .02....how long have you been doing it, how much have you grown, how many beers have you successfully brewed and brought to market, how good is your brand/name recognition, how many people do you employ, how profitable are you.

From that perspective there is only one.

edit- ive edited my original post for less of a dismissive tone...cheers

I think you know that answer to that...I am biased living over here, but they are what the majority of the country thinks of when they think Louisiana beer.

I am not knocking any of our craft breweries, theyre doing amazing stuff....knarley, tin roof, urban, grb, crying eagle, port orleans, parish, etc

Just dont think they in the same league as Abita

It may happen, but it may be 10-15 years from now.

so you're saying Abita, but don't want to say Abita for some reason??

Nm you did in the next post. I think when talking about flagship..abita has ownership of that title. When people think college in Louisiana they think LSU, when they think beer they likely think Abita...it fits.

BUT I'll agree Abita is the flagship...but nowhere near the BEST brewery...I mean in terms of turning out really well thought out, innovative, quality stuff

You're not wrong, but the quality just isn't there across the board.

It is everywhere though so it is what people think of as louisiana beer.

IMO:
most recognizable (flagship brewery): Abita
Best brewery: Goat raft

of course I say that knowing I don't taste a lot of stuff GB and US are doing...I think they probably have a place in this convo

LA Craft breweries are doing AMAZING stuff....so proud of how far LA beer is coming...great times right now.

They will continue to grow and grow and grow if they keep it up, even through the gluttony of craft breweries out there right now.

I sample almost every new beer from the sate and gulf coast...theres some terrible and amazing shite happening right now!

Amen brother!! I still think back to one night we took a German dude out to a local place here that has $2 Louisiana beer night... we let him sample everything from NOLA to GRB and everything in between... by the end of the night he hands down said Louisiana beer scene > the nation of Germany!

They both have great stuff. Holy roller is one of my favorites and the lime cucumber gose I like better than life itself from GR.

Life itself was one of the first gose I really flipped for when it came out....bought that shite 4-5 crowlers at a time for pool days since then I have found a few lime goses have surpassed it. Still, was damn nice to see them venture into something light and truly crushable
