I don't have one but got stuck on an air fryer info commercial the other day . Steaks looked really good and so did the onion rings.

My father in law has one. We did two turkeys last years and did the Pepsi challenge. The real fryer won hands down, but the air fryer was ok. Yankees won’t know the difference.

Gramps always fries a turkey at his place and brings it to wherever is hosting thanksgiving, always something to look forward to. This year I noticed it was pretty disappointing, lo and behold he used one of these air fryers instead of the american way.

ETA: Don't really mean to shite on your gift, OP. Just not my taste at all, at least not my favorite substitute for fried turkey.

To answer your question, I've heard chicken wings are very easy and come out relatively great

I always assumed an air fryer was just a convection oven

I have one and I'm not impressed with it. I only used it twice and the food came out ok. I purchased it on the advice of my mom and sister. They love theirs. Maybe I need to purchase a cookbook and try what the book suggests. Maybe I'm not using it correctly. I saw a cookbook in Wal Mart but I'm not paying 35 bucks to tell me what I'm doing wrong. I'll look for a book on Amazon.

It does small pork tenderloin pretty well. Steaks come out good but I only put super cheap ones in it. It's really good for a young single person since capacity is limited. It will never make anything amazing but I have one and have recommended it for its ease of use and cleaning.

I noticed several air fryer cookbooks on the bargain shelf at Barnes and Noble the other day. Hardbacks for $9.95.

Air fryers seem to be the this year's Instant Pot. Lots of books by random authors that the stores are carrying and then marking down to make room for the best seller cookbooks.

Waste of time imo. Steam/Boil enclosures nothing good comes out of it.

had one for about a month. So far we've done:

Wings with Kentucky Colonel
Twice baked potatoes
french fries
bacon

all of them turned out very good.

I dont have one, but I want one

I doubt it makes great foods per se, but when I am dieting and eating very simply, I understand its a nice change of pace from cooking things in a pan or oven. I have heard fish is good in it

If you like crispy dry rubbed wings an air fryer is fantastic.

My mom gave me one a couple years ago. I've never used it. Don't know what i would cook on it, and it's just something else i'd have to clean.

If y'all are bacon eaters, it's worth it just for that. Makes an amazing bacon blanket for your BLT...fits the bread perfectly. BLTS are my favorite so it's already paid for itself in sandwiches alone.

We also reheat fries, tator tots, mozzarella sticks, etc. in it, too. They come out crispier than trying to reheat in the oven. I don't use mine super often but there are certain things that it is great for.
