Well, unless you like standing in line for 3-4 hours for Franklin.

There are a lot of options outside of Franklin's that are all very good without the 6 hour wait. La BBQ, Terry Blacks, Micklethwaits, Stiles Switch are a few examples.

Go to saltlick in Driftwood and don't look back. Best burnt ends in TX.

My goodness. These places must be so damn good that they get hammered on the weekend and have to close on Mondays. Heck some are even close until Wednesday.
Didn't want to start a new thread, most of the options people have recommended here and in other threads are closed today

Speaking of Austin BBQ... is there any good places in the Rainey St area?

Near some of the best BBQ in the country and you go to Rudy's.
Rudy's is fine if you're looking for something fast and easy, but damn, go to salt lick at least.

La Barbecue is a 5 minute drive from there. Or hop a rental bike and be there in 10 minutes. Franklin's is about the same distance. Kerlin is a bit closer and near la barbecue.

People overlook Rudy’s cause it’s a chain but the brisket is absolutely top notch.
The expanded locations are not much different than the original that made him famous.

I can vouch for Terry Black's (that beef rib!
) and Valentina's -- both are exceptional.
I found Stiles Switch to be overrated.
