I’ve been a wine guy for the majority of my adult life. I used to drink beer and whiskey regularly, but they got crowded out by wine. And I was perfectly happy with that ... until I got into gin. I still love wine, but gin is admittedly gaining a much larger chunk of my alcohol share. I got into it in its most basic form in Spain, where they’ve appropriated the gin and tonic from the British and made it their national cocktail (owing in large part to reverence for Hemingway, who spent significant time there during the Spanish Civil War). But now I’m much more into the craft gin and craft tonic scene. So with that, a PSA:

The Hat Trick gin at Calandro’s (which has a very good gin selection in general mind you) is out of this world. Tremendously botanical, if you’re into that. And paired with Fever Tree elderflower tonic water creates a jungle of botanical flavors that I still can’t quite get over.

What other gins and tonics are you drinking?

The Botanist and Hendrick’s are two solid gin choices.

Haven’t had it. Looks great. A fastball down the middle it appears.

I love Hendricks.

Looks like I need to try the Bontanists.

Never realized gin was this complex/ranging. Cool stuff.

Hopefully this thread catches on because I will be following it.

The Hat Trick looks like my perfect combo of traits for a gin. I'll have to try it. Currently I'm partial to Citadelle.

I serve no purpose in this thread and i fully believe in “to each their own” on alcohol preferences, but Ive never personally enjoyed gin in any fashion. Ive tried hard to like it, but it just never did it.

But cheers anyways

Very interesting flavor profile on the Citadelle, with botanicals including Almond, Angelica, Cardamom, Cassia, Cinnamon, Coriander, Cubeb Pepper, Cumin, Fennel, Grains of Paradise, Juniper, Lemon, Nutmeg, Orange, Orris Root, savory, Star Anise, and violet. That’s quite the cocktail.

Love Citadelle.

I just purchased a bottle of St Andrews and it is very good.

I like them all for the most part, but Hendrick's/Bombay Sapphire are go-tos.

This is a fun taster set of 3 different gins from St. George spirits.

There was a G&T we had in london that had pink peppercorns in it that my wife likes to recreate.

Calandro’s has the St George varieties you posted. I will check them out.

Interesting twist with the pink peppercorns.

Over the last year, I too have been on a serious gin kick. I really like the German gin, Monkey 47, it's really unusual and great for a gin Old Fashioned. I also like the Japanese Nikka Coffey still gin. I like traditional London dry gins like Tanqueray 10 and Beefeater, and the Tanqueray Rangpur is great for G&Ts. The few I've tried that I haven't liked are Barr Hill, which is sweet, and The Forager, which tastes like licorice. Neither had ay juniper or traditional gin character.

It’s basically an infused neutral spirit. As long as one of the dominant flavors is juniper, the world is your oyster.

Think this was the gin used in the pink peppercorn G&T

I know its supposed to be cheap, but I love Hayden's Old Tom.

Also, Nolet's.

I used to like Hendricks, that got me in to gin, but now I find it boring and lacking any flavor depth.
