I've had webers but first time to have a big boy grill. Suggestions? I should probably get the griddle, right?

Its gets hot very fast. We have one at a beach condo that has lasted 15 years outside in salty sea air. Have only replaced the grates.

I don't have a griddle with a Weber but do have one in a different set up.

Flattop is the most useful and indispensable square inches in cooking devices imo.

Where did you buy yours from? I'm going to buy a Genisis in the next two or three weeks.
I'm still researching which model I want and watching for any sales.

If you have to assemble it just be patient. It takes some time but with the construction app/videos it’s pretty straightforward.
My casters are hard to lock, especially when wearing flip flops. This bit me in the arse when I thought I had locked them and was away when a T-storm hit and blew the pit down the driveway, breaking my NG line. Thankfully I always turn the gas valve off after grilling. Weber replaced it and gave me a 40% discount and offered to send me new casters.
I’ve been dealing with Weber for over 40 years and their customer service is outstanding.

Lowes had a stainless steel floor model I wanted but would not sell it. Jerks. They offered to order but you know what If they don't want my money, I'll spend it somewhere else.

Ace Hardware store three blocks from house. Same price. Got the genesis 325 with searing zone. Ace is putting it together and delivering it at no extra charge.

I was watching for sales and didn't see any on Genesis. Saw $50 ones on Spirits.

Awesome. That’s the model I think I want and I will probably buy from Ace unless someone else has a great deal that comes up.

Excellent deal, delivered assembled. It’s rare you see Webers discounted or on sale. I know certain places give Veteran’s discounts.

I had a genisis before I moved and got a kitchen on the patio. I really liked it. I end up selling it to a friend.

The only issue you will have is the same issue you have with any gas grill is that you need to keep it clean to keep it from flaming up and eventually you will need to overhaul it by replacing the flavor bars/burners possibly. Fortunately Weber is a very good compnay and always has the replacement parts

Also, that igniter system is shite and will constantly fail. Just manually light it and you will be all set

five or six years ago, Lowes had a huge sale on them during Labor Day, I'm talking $100-200 off. Haven't seen a sale like that on grills since. Must've been a one time deal.

I replaced the grates on my Genesis with Grill Grates. I mainly use the flat side of them to get excellent browning on steaks, burgers, etc. One of the best purchases I’ve made.

Interesting. I have an 8 year old Genesis that I treat like shite. The flavorizor bars are in bad shape and the grates are not the best, but the burners still look brand new and the ignitor has never taken more have a single click to start a section. I'm actually amazed by it.

Thanks for the tips. Seriously.

Tried it out this weekend with some prime ribeyes. Cooks more quickly than the Spirit and that searing zone is really nice. Made me a believer.

Even bought the griddle to go with it. Haven't used one before but will be a fun project.

I had one a few years ago but a tornado that ripped through the woods behind our house blew it across the concrete patio and destroyed it. I never replaced it but it was a great gas grill.

Make sure to clean the grease drippings pan and “funnel” regularly if they still have that. I’ve had mine for 20 years and works great. I had a fire underneath one time when I didn’t clean that small pan and funnel after having a good bit of drippings from cooking something large.

First thing I like to do with a new gas grill is fire it up and let it get to a high temperature to burn off any oils that are on the thing from the manufacturing process. Then just cook on it and enjoy.

My Genesis has been the best gas grill I've ever owned and I've had 3 other brands over the years. I've had mine for at least 5-6 years now and the only thing I've ever replaced is the battery that activates the igniter and I did recently buy new flavorizer bars for it since the original ones are showing some pretty heavy rust, but are still functional.

Yup. Burned it on high for 30 minutes then seasoned it with bacon strips.
