They are being bought by another restaurant and will be closing on July 15th for renovations. Our event was on July 28th. They have referred us to another restaurant. My friend is working on getting the new venue details finalized.

My question is should I ask the original restaurant to reimburse me for $100 in invitations and postage that have gone to waste? I'm so unhappy right now!!!!

Thats a tricky situation. Is it the same ownership?

If not, I dont see why the original owner would even return your call unless he/she is a genuine person. Its worth a shot, but you might be SOL.

Good luck.

I'd give you my answer but you're going to have to come clean on what restaurant you're talking about.

You could try but you might want to chock it up to a loss. But definitely Let it all out and let us know the restaurant.

Worst thing that could happen is they say no.

Yeah take the online tirade to yelp too. One star their arse and make sure to use tons of exclamation points.

I am not going to say just yet which restaurant but I did see it mentioned in the "BR restaurants likely to close" thread.

I think they are in the process of telling their employees this afternoon, so I will wait.

Oh and I didn't choose this restaurant for the event someone else did.

I don't have the contract, my friend does. I need to get her to send it to me.

You had a contract with restaurant A.

They will soon no longer exist

As such, the contract is null and void

This is not necessarily correct, depends on contract language.

Assume this is Galatoire’s.

Regardless, restaurant that you booked won’t exist when your event occurs.... I would be happy they gave u a heads up. A lot of folks wouldn’t....

Galatoire's is out? I wouldn't be surprised based on the meals I have had there and how it is always half empty but, that being said, I am shocked a little.

Hell of a nice space they built though. It will serve someone well.

Not sure why they would reimburse you or why you would expect that at all.
