Not being a smartass, but why not try frying your own.
They are cheap, so if you have to do a little trial and error to get it like you want, it's not like screwing up a prime rib or brisket you paid $50 for.

When both Popeye's and KFC stopped selling livers I was faced with no other option, and found the best livers I ever ate came right out of my own kitchen.
They are always fresh and hot too!

Try it, you might surprise yourself.

Back in the day Kentucky Fried Chicken used to sell steamed gizzards by the pint. They were the greatest thing ever. Pressure cooked and unbelievably tender. They were spectacular.

Wish the still had em.

JR Food Mart (gas station) in Folsom has some of the best fried chicken livers and gizzard I've ever had.

Reminds me of the old Danny’s friend chicken in Franklinton, damn that was some good food.

After reading this thread I went to the Blue Store on Jones Creek and got an order yesterday. They were delicious. Hot and well seasoned. I guess if you’re worried about salt don’t go there but I’m not and they were amazing.

Those who have read F&D Board for any length of time know my opinion is the very best livers, gizzards, and fried chicen in general have come from the "Keep It Hot" display case of some small town gas station. They are always my go to source for fried chicken.

You prefer livers or gizzards, or like both about equally?

My preference will always be livers, but I will eat the gizzard, and will order some if they are out of livers. If they throw one in my box by accident, I don;t complain.

IMO if you don't like chewy (Rubbery), then you won't like gizzards.

You must have them in giblet gravy at our house.

Someone else mentioned it, and I don't really like the heart. No good reason, just me.

It always tasted like sort of the perfect cross between the liver and the gizzards to me.

Team gizzard. Hot out the grease, drowned in hot sauce.

always figured growing up poor we didn't waste any parts. Feet and beak are about the only things we didn't eat.

Momma fried chicken every Saturday for lunch. Gizzard, liver, heart, neck and back were Top Tier pieces for me.

Always loved that rare but delicious three hearted chicken.
