Giamonicos?- great food!!!

Also, what was that Italian place there on the corner of Highland and State Street? As studnets, we thought that was fine dining

Was passing through Baton Rouge last year and stopped in at the Pastimes for a po-boy. Was happy to see that it was still pretty much the same as it was in the 70's.

The Pizza Inn on Sherwood Forest was good(1970s). My brother worked there. Also across the street from that was Egg Roll King(1980s).

Tony's Donuts on Old Hammond near Millerville.

The Salad Bar at Steak and Ale on Florida Blvd in the late seventies was exotic. A salad bar ? Wow, that's a good idea.

I remember watching LSU play in the Sun Bowl at Gatti's Pizza on Florida.

Sambos on Airline Hwy. I think the word "negro" was on the menu.

The Mirror Steak House - They always had these huge arse Crawfish in an Aquarium with rubber bands around thier claws...........

Bamboo Garden - Home of the Zombie!!!!!

Shakeys Pizza - Already mentioned, but this was the ultimate Pizza joint and I worked there as a teen.

Giovonni's - Was a great date place. Owner got busted for his "Special Menu" items.......

Wesleys - Grew up eating Pizzas and Po-boys from there. They bought out Pastime and still own it.

Duff's Smorgesboard - Buffet place on a huge, slow moving "Lazy Susan".

Used to love the hamburgers and milk shakes at Hoppers - several locations, but used to frequent the one on Highland Road near Vicaro Drive.

Pinetta's

Back when the old European family owned it (Armenian ?). The place had the best shish-ka-bob on the planet then. The new owner (lady) just don't have the good food like it used to have.

OH Well

Speaking of Italian food, does anybody remember Europe's? Northern Italian, as I recall. Very good! It was on North Airline, past Greenwell Springs Rd.

The chicken shack on Nicholson, was at West Roosevelt, and was called Uncle Ben's. Horrible greasy restaurant with the best fried chicken, onion rings and shakes EVER!
