What was the name of that drive in on Nicholson...great milkshakes in the front. SPICY fried chicken in the back! Didn't go anywhere near often enough!
And ROUND THE CORNER...where you ordered by phone...was GREAT! Miss it real bad.
The "Little Italian Restuarant"...more or less where Raising Canes is now on Highland just off the campus...and THE SPAGHETTI STORE...still have a few of the LSU glasses they let you keep...somewhere.
Bono's Pizza...great italian sausage poboys!

drusilla's when it was good.
Ralph and Kacoo's when it was really good. best hush puppies ever.
Rose and Thomas market in the hood next to Tabby Thomas's blues box. best plate lunch in town.
Brunet's on Flannery rd. was generally pretty good. Is that place still there?

Didn't that drive in become Mickey's Gold Nugget. I forget the name of it, but the fried chicken and shakes were first rate. It was a regular stop on weekends my freshman year.

i thoght Mickey's was a former gas station and the drive in near it was just torn down after a fire.
this is why the topic is so appropriate. i have CRS.

Po Folks
Now there is one best forgotten. My first, and only, visit to Po' Folks included a show that I will never forget. I was there with two friends on a Saturday morning following a night of intense drinking, and we were quite short on funds. We were eating some crappy biscuits and gravy type breakfast and reading the newspaper when in walked this family straight out of the Beverly Hillbillies. There was Mom, Dad, son and Grandmother dressed as if on the way to WalMart or something. They sat at a table a little ways off from us, and were eating their food. Grandma, who was wearing this faded floral print dress, smiled over at us, and she was missing about half of her teeth. We nodded politely at her, and started to crackwise at her expense. We were having a few laughs when she all of a sudden atood up and started to scratch her crotch as if she'd just been attacked by a horde of fire ants. Needless to say we were a little shocked, amused and revolted simultaneously, as were the other 5 or 6 patrons who witnessed the sight. None of us finished our food, and we immediately left Po' Folks. For some reason I could never get myself to re-enter the restaurant.
