Chef Andrea is the best.
The banquet meal I had at Andrea's last summer was the single worst restaurant meal of my entire life (aside from fast food). Comically bad, from the wilted, bagged spring mix salad w/dessicated carrot shreds to the bland cup of lentil soup flavored with exactly one machine-cut carrot cube....thank g-d, I've forgotten the entree & dessert.

"And what do you know about true Italian food? I just got back from there and the food at Andrea's is as good as any place I have had in Rome or on the Cruise Lines that ply the Med/Its not fair to judge a restaurant on a banquet, go back another time and tell him I sent you/You ordered wrong..."

He's solid. I like his candor.

Andrea sure does seafood well. I've never had a bad fish dish there.

I'm 99% sure that last summer's terrible banquet entree was a piece of fish...

I haven't eaten there in years, but I was taken there several times. Both times I ordered fish dishes. Both times, they weren't good and I didn't eat much of either. I was hungry after long days of meetings, so I ate a lot of bread. The last time, there was crabmeat on the top with an ammonia smell and it also looked like it had been frozen.

I've eaten at Andreas once because I was someone's guest. It was awful.

I miss Chef Buster
But I'm afraid I supremely disappointed him the one time I met him. I asked for the Crawfish Monica recipe, and I could see his shoulders drop. He was hoping for a better question, I guess. Anyway, he had a similar recipe in his cookbook that he referred me to.
BTW: The one time I ate at Andrea's we used a $100 gift certificate and it was one of the best meals I ever had. This was a long time ago, though. As a side note, our tab was exactly $100 with a 20% tip included. To the penny.

What'd you order?

Y'all like Chef Kevin from New Orleans culinary institute?
I think he'd be a good daily guy for Frank's kitchen on the WWL morning show.
