I once read a thread where lunchbox was arguing that the CPA did not require a lot of studying. Five Guys menu items is child's play

I just want to chime in and say that I find it hilarious that you are so delusional with regards to arguing that the Five Guys menu is not misleading. The fact that you think a menu that simply says burger should be assumed to be a double patty is ridiculous.

I think Five Guys and Sonic are nearly identical also. I'll throw Wendy's in there also - all very similar.

I'm pretty much separate burgers in my mind as:

- Thin meat, cooked well done, tons of condiments and toppings, sloppy (these are good for hangovers)

and

- High quality meat, maybe a good cheese and thick bacon, pickle, and possibly a slice of raw onion. Cooked med-rare. Good bun. Juicy, with focus on the meat. (these are when I'm craving a damn good burger for dinner.. and the type of places I'd normally call my 'favorite' burger)

.. and then there's like McDonalds/Burger King/Jack in the Box.

Five Guys might have certain things that are better than Whataburger, but I hardly notice them. They're all fairly decent, thin patty, mountains-of-condiment types of burgers to me.

Correction. It's called the Joey menu. A joey is a juvenile kangaroo.

I don't hate five guys, but for the price Company burger is better.
Five guys does load you down with fries though, you can split a small fry three ways.

Semantics. You're arguing with everyone that says that the menu is confusing. The only way it is not confusing is if a person goes in expecting the word burger to mean that they are getting a double burger.

I don't disagree that the menu is written in a way that could cause the inexperienced to unknowingly order a larger than expected burger. I do agree that caveat emptor should be observed when ordering in an unfamiliar eating establishment. It doesn't hurt to ask!

If that's what you got out of it, great. That's not what was said.

You have some pretty dated burger judgments. You are basically comparing a griddled burger to a grilled burger and equating all griddled burgers with Whataburger/Sonic. There's nothing wrong with liking thick pattied burgers, but griddled burgers have been acclaimed as some of the best in the US and summarily dismissing them as hangover food is kind of a stale notion. If you cannot tell the difference between 5 Guys 80/20 chuck and the hodge podge of ground trimmings used by the fast food joints, you probably don't eat a lot of burgers.

What I'm trying to tell you is that you have no reason to complain at the price, when the prices were right in front of your face. If its too expensive for what you are willing to spend, buy less. Your bill could have been $12 with a water, $10 if you split the fries with a coworker, under $10 if you can do without bacon.

I had no problem with what I paid. It was good. I am not a poor person by any stretch. But it wasn't $14.75 good.

Anyone else think it's funny how many people that don't much care for FG are experts on their size, meat quality, service and prices?

I think it's a bit pricey but I'm cheap when it comes to burgers. Double cheese from McDs for $1.50 suits me.

Wut?

Burgers are the only reason I am not a vegetarian. Try at least twice a week.

And I realize there are multiple differences. I am only saying FG is not wildly superior to justify a double price.

Double the price of what? What burger is less than $2-2.5?

Other than the crappy ones I like?
