Yes they do. It’s not a very big place however. It just the chef and his wife back there cooking everything but they do a great job.

Back to OP, I agree a first timer should check out Peche.

Cochon on your original list would be one. They have a sandwich / small plate outpost next door called Cochon Butcher, too. You can scratch the Cajun itch with this family of restaurants. If you want some real gumbo & locL flair , I’d consider a place like Gabrielle’s. The couple come from the Paul Prudomme tree. Though you can find many good gumbos on a lot of menus, but they have one of the best. You can find some great gulf fish dishes here, as well as things like duck & oyster.

Brightsen’s is also a Prudomme disciple. Albeit it is a bit old school, I like what they do here & it is just one of those places that are naturally New Orleans.

Palm & Pine is one of my favorite newer places that use local ingredients well. They are outsiders who have done time at some staples here, so it’s a nice take on old/new. They do brunch on Sundays that I really like.

Gabrielle's would be a good choice, just note its in an...odd...neighborhood for a tourist so uber there and back, no walking around that area

Not what you’re looking for, but I’d highly recommend Bacchanal after dinner one night. A New Orleans institution at this point, it’s a wine store/bar with a very large backyard with oak trees and tables and live jazz music. Extremely popular place.

If you don’t like wine they have cocktails and beer bar on the 2nd floor. I’d just recommend getting a bottle and listening to some tunes

To me it’s one of the essential institutions for a first time (or any time visit). It’s not a neighborhood you can really walk around if you’re unfamiliar. So uber.

To me those perfect places for a first time visitor are:

Peche, Commander’s, Bacchanal, Parkway Poboy, Cafe Du Monde in city park

If you want to watch games the aforementioned Wrong Iron, Bayou Beer/Wine Garden, and Tchoup yard are the choices.

Got here on Thursday and have had a great weekend so far. Have done plenty but highlights have been Jewel of the South, Turkey and the Wolf, and Guy's Po-Boys.

Where are yall watching the game of the century tomorrow?

I would do Wrong Iron over BBG for a game just because I think it offers superior access to tv’s/ more tv’s.

Cooters is definitely the right call for day time sports watching.

Weather was kinda nice today. A lot of places will be hopping tomorrow.

I wouldn’t waste a meal at cooter browns.
