The wife and I have been experimenting lately with these quick jambalayas to have with our dinner, but so far have been disappointed that most are really bland and need doctoring up.

The best I've had so far is Zatarains, I bought some Louisiana brand yesterday to try.

when i use a box, i add the trinity, garlic, and some more seasoning. also, along with sausage i get one of those rotissouri chickens from the store. adds lots of flavor

I've had oak grove a couple of times, but have thought they have always been a little light on seasoning as well.
Do you fry the trinity off and then add it in while the jamabalyan is cooking?

I use Oak Grove, but I put in trinity, sausage, shredded rotisserie chicken, use stock or chicken broth instead of water, and add a little Slap Ya Mama hot.

They have a guy in Gonzales Jeff Parent, that is packaging a frozen mix, his has everything except the rice, you bring it to a boil add the correct amount of rice and bingo, I have never tried it but he won the Jambalaya Festival a few years ago so he obvisouly knows what he is doing, anybody try his stuff? (Ihave eaten his traditional Jam and it is legit)

Oak Grove.

But if you're going to chop your veggies already, you might as well just make a regular homemade jambalaya

Believe it or not, I actually prefer box jambalaya over homemade stuff. It's got a better consistency i think

Whoa! Just whoa, now!

Consistency? Did this fella just say CONSISTENCY?

You better explain yourself, or GTFO.

Oak Grove >>>> Zatarain's but that's because IMO
brown jambalaya >>>> tomato-based jambalaya.

And I've always found most Zatarain's products to be too salty.

agreed, and same with the Tony's stuff. Also, the texture is odd.
