I've been to the one in Sugar Land several times and the one in Beaumont once.

What does El Timpo do that everyone else can't do?
I've eaten there a few times, and I'm always blown away at how awesome it is compared to anything I can get in Lafayette.
I honestly don't understand why Lafayette needs 1000 Mexican restaurants, and they all serve the same thing.
If you copy and pasted El Tiempo into Lafayette and BR they'd make an absolute fortune. (Until the new owners screw it up by being Louisianians. LOL)

Atlanta is a Tex Mex wasteland.
Hundreds where it’s fine but not much to rave about.

Another Houston gem that I went to last night: Heights Biergarten
Terrible Mexican though.

Really cool spot.
Cool space, but they were psychos about masks months after TX had ended the mask mandate and it had also just ended in other states. An employee jumped 2ft in the air backwards away from us when we went up to order maskless.
In an open air bar

El Tiempo carnitas old school
Ninfa’s tacos de pulpo
Candente birria tacos
If anyone says Lupe Tortilla immediately discount their opinion on food

The day the CDC mask announcement came out they dropped the covid protocols. It was strange considering how the staff operated previously.

Its the same as trying to open a cajun/creole restaurant in TX, and comparing them to La restaurants of the same type. Its just never the same. Never as good. The Laurenzo family has been doing tex mex since the 70's and have refined their recipes to a very high level. I imagine its not easy to replicate without some inside knowledge.

I do not set foot in Houston without going to El Tiempo.
That said, Superica is also ridiculously good.

Must be different than the ones here.
It’s good but not really special.

Glad you liked the food, dick head.

Agree…I don’t find anything special about Superica…La Lucha next door to Superica here in Houston is my jam though.

Still don't understand the hype for that place. El Tiempo prices with Gringos quality.
At least in my experience. Maybe I've eaten at the wrong ones.

I like superica. And candente

I was pleasantly surprised by Superica based on reviews. Lucha is still a much better stop.
