TW is so overrated

It's good, but it's not that good.

It was in Food & Wine magazine recently, too.

I hate restaurants where I feel like it's difficult to have an actual MEAL in. That's what I feel about Turkey and the Wolf. I'm not even talking food quantity either.

Are you sure you aren't their social media guy? I really like the food and cocktails, but their instagram leaves me hoping they all die impaled on the member of a particularly large stallion.

i try not to judge people who are having fun
they are clearly having fun running that business and getting amply rewarded

never been there but my wife has been bugging me to go
I might like it and I might not but it will be based on the food and service not their instagram account

Odd way of marketing...

I think, although I don't speak for national food media, the reason it get so much attention is due to its ethos. So many restaurants opening are twee, farm to table bullshite with artfully composed plates and tweezer assisted micro green infanticide. Then Turkey and the Wolf comes along which technically is producing food of a very high caliber but doing so in a fun, tasty almost irreverent way.

Their food just tastes good. Really good in a lot of ways. It stands out in a national environment of sameness. I love the place and it is one of my favorite places in the city.

The Italian American, Deviled eggs, wedge, cabbage and pig eat salad, chicken pot hand pie, tomato sandwich, bologna sandwich... some combination of that is my go to.

Really want to go one Monday night for Big arse Bowl of Pasta Night but tough sell that.

Exactly. Its not ordinary. The food, the atmosphere, the attitude. Its all fringe-y. And fantastic and entertaining, as far as I'm concerned.

Their Instagram is a cheap knock-off version of Stein's Deli from back when Jez used to run social media there.

That being said, I thought the place was above average as a restaurant. Definitely stoner food.

I don't get the hate in this thread.

The place is fantastic. People just want to hate on things they think is hipster.

The food is great. That lam neck roti...

I ain't hating. In honor of this thread, which I was reading earlier on the road, I bought some garlic bologna and made a white bread, Blue Plate and fried bologna sandwich.
actually I made 2 for about $2.00 a piece so I saved some cash. Granted family is gone so no atmosphere but what the hell.

But that, in itself, is way beyond trend. Joe Beef and Chang's various joints have been doing that bullshite for a long time. The backlash against artisan, handcrafted, locally source, microcrap happened as soon as microcrap crested, meaning it's been going on for 5 years. It's not like pushing back against that is some great movement that Turkey and the Wolf is leading.

That being said, I haven't eaten there, I can only comment on the larger foodie scene as a whole.

This thread is depressing. Fried bologna on white? Oh my. I'll take my club sandwich at Tiger Cafe.
