PL and Lockharts are both very good. Pecan Lodge is a more unique dining experience so I’d go with that

Guy at the hotel is not recommending Pecan Lodge and is saying they have gone downhill. Says we should check out Lockharts instead. Thoughts?

I'm sure lockhart's isn't slipping him any cash.

If you're there for a weekend could do cattleack or Terry Black's. I have not been there yet either but it has really good reviews and is an Austin institution.

Feel like everything is closed right now. Canne Russo for pizza isn’t a far Uber ride. Plenty of stuff uptown.

Well Pecan Lodge was only open for takeout so we hit Lockharts for lunch. Legit TX BBQ. A little pricey but it was good. Tried the brisket, ribs, and sausage. Their sausage definitely has a different flavor than I am use to but it was good. Brisket was definitely the star of the plate. It didn’t have the picturesque smoke ring but it was moist, tender, and flavorful.

Think I may venture out for a late dinner tonight. Was thinking about Mexican. Anyone ever heard of Meso Maya Comida y Copas? It’s close by and has a shite ton of reviews online.

Sorry for bump, but I had a geography shift and picked up DFW for 1st time. Generally only came for meetings and to visit family. Last decade or so was covering Houston & Atlanta.

Stayin downtown Big D this week and hit Jaxon for a cocktail, based off this old thread. Cool spot. Not eating here but food looks decent.

Homewood is solid. Doin The Charles this week. Plan to try Terry Blacks to compare to my favorite Houston spots whose horns I toot on this board.

Friends who live there ate at Parigi last week and enjoyed it. I know nothing about it, though.

Came her to say names this place. Also, Perry's is great, but get the pork chop.

Will try it at some point, Gris.

I’ve done CBD n places, and used to hit Perry’s n Houston. That Friday lunch pork chop is a sleeping pill. Actually dined at one n Sugarland after LSU beat Bama in 2019 because I was there for a gender reveal of grandson.

On Bama/LSU. Ha!

Doin Monarch tonite. Heard good stuff. Looks great.

How was it?

Also, Meso Maya is pretty good, and La Ventana (the taco restaurant behind the actual restaurant) is also really good.

It was good. Glad I went on a Tuesday….. place was packed. Sat at the bar. Great view from 49th floor.

Had Wagyu Carpaccio, Crispy Veal Chop Parmesan (this was butterflied, bone-in) & a couple cocktails.

Not somewhere I would go often, definitely a “who’s who and who wants to be seen” kinda place. Food was solid tho.
