Coming in for a quick weekend trip from South Florida. Looking for a few places to eat lunch and dinner downtown. TIA

Cocha, little village

Cocha is the best spot in town for dinner.

Not downtown, but not too far away for lunch - Elsie's Plate & Pie or Chow Yum. Dinners covered with Cecila or Cocha.

Why does it have to he downtown?

Staying downtown. Dad is in the hospital so I’m just looking for places that we can walk or uber to close to the hotel. Staying at the watermark.

It’s by no means the best, but the restaurant in the lobby of the Watermark is perfectly fine, and it’s beautiful.
If you want to venture out, I’ll second Cocha and Cecelia while adding Tsunami just for the view.
ETA: for a whole weekend, I would suggest making it at least down Government Street or down to the Perkins overpass area. Very good restaurants down both corridors. If you’re insisting on staying downtown, Stroubes and Bayes are fine. Taste of Jamaica is great, but just do pick up and go find a nice spot to eat.

What hospital? The general or OLOL? Just go eat somewhere on Essen, bluebonnet or Perkins

I’ve stayed at the Watermark maybe 10x in the last 3-4 years. I’ve tried to give them the benefit of doubt, but overall the experience has been disappointing. Especially for breakfast

OP asks for a downtown rec and you post something else.

I’ve never had their breakfast, so I can’t speak to that. The Gregory is perfectly serviceable for lunch and dinner if you aren’t looking for anything mind blowing.

Below average menu and execution in my opinion. Cocha is better but overall not much going on in Downtown.
