They are scouting out a new location in Baton Rouge somewhere.

Damn. I remember going there as a young kid when it was one of the preeminent Baton Rouge restaurants.

I like the oyster specials and the seafood gumbo...everything else is kinda old school..surprised it lasted this long at that location...wish them all the best at a new location hopefully in South baton rouge

I've been going since the 60's and yes I've seen that area slide. I remember when Ralph and Kacoos built their building. Two Jacks, Europes...few in that area did well for quite awhile. I remember The Black Angus which later turned into LaFondas.

My grandparents would bring me to the Mirror Steak House next to the stockyard and Scallans slaughterhouse. Airline was the main drag back then.

The food quality differed quite a bit between the Airline & Cabelas locations

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm thinking their bread and butter has been salesmen taking Exxon employees to lunch.
And then the few folks on that side of town that eat out for dinner didn't really have a lot of choices for "something nice."

For many years they made one of the best Gumbo's around. The original owner and staff back in the day could put good food out with the best. Once Duke got fed up with other family members changing recipes and methods, he left and opened his place in DS. The food took a major dive in recent years as a result. Duke Landry is killin it at his new place!!!!

Grew up in Southdowns right at back parking lot of St Aloysius. Mom and Dad used to always take us to one of these or Don's seems like every week. I used to love Two Jacks as a kid. Good times

Duke and Mike grew up with my older brother and sister. Great guys-I remember them in school and both of them shucking way back then. I will make an effort to try his place and I have heard a lot of good about it. Thanks.
