Does anyone else here question the concept of breakfast food?

I find that a lot of breakfast foods that we consider normal, are just loaded up with sugar and fat.
I have gotten to the point to where, if I'm not eating a low-sugar cereal or granola + coffee for breakfast, then I'll say "frick it" and just eat left over pasta or something that would normally be considered dinner.
I used to be a fan of sugary cereals, pancakes loaded with syrup, lots of bacon, DONUTS, etc.. but I've learned that those foods often make me feel like crap. I have a white collar job so I don't really get a chance to burn many carbs during the day. I would prefer my carbs be from starches and protein, rather than fat and sugar.

Well avoiding the refined sugar is good, but you are still getting carbs made with refined grains in the pasta. So you are eating a lesser of two evils but not tremendously better.

Breakfast food for dinner is easier for me to switch. Read your body, and if that takes you out of the box, go for it.

I'm with you...I really don't like most breakfast foods. My husband always wants to cook big breakfasts on the weekends--bacon or sausage, eggs, pancakes or biscuits--but it's really starting to make me feel gross just looking at all that food. Then there's the muffin/donut/breakfast pastry, which is too sweet, IMO. Even yogurt or granola bars seem too sweet.
About the only breakfast foods I can tolerate are bagels or English muffins, and I get sick of them quickly. So most of the time I just eat leftovers from the night before, like you said.
I don't mind a bowl of Great Grains cereal for a late-night snack though, which is weird.

I think I'm getting diabetic or something, because I find starches to be much easier to "process."
I am just questioning how we view breakfast food, or more specifically how we view what ISN'T breakfast food. I get weird looks about eating chicken parmesan for breakfast from my coworkers.
What's wrong with eating dinner food for breakfast? I dog unhealthy breakfasts, but I've been known to eat a pint of Haagen Dazs coffee ice cream for breakfast. As awful as that sounds, it is probably not that much worse than eating a "normal" breakfast consisting of beignets and cafe au lait.

I agree. I can't understand how people eat donuts or pancakes for breakfast. I very rarely eat sweets anyway, probably because my body gets all of the sugar it wants from alcohol, but anything sweet for breakfast doesn't appeal to me. I've gotten to where I just want to have eggs with some salsa and milk.
ETA: and grits

the sad thing is that most kids are starting their days off with this CRAP. sugary cereals, pop tarts, "granola" bars dipped in chocolate. makes me want to vomit. no wonder they all have ADD! i know some kids who have coke with their breakfast! i juice 1lb of carrots and 4 pieces of fruit, and throw in a beet as well as some kind of leafy green. we drink that and the kids get a banana or some oatmeal IF they are still hungry. i also don't force feed my kids..when they are full, they stop eating, period. we're growing a nation of fatties!

big fan of classic eggs, biscuits, bacon, etc.
find most brunch type dishes silly and overkill.

I hate breakfast foods in the morning (I eat burgers and tacos for breakfast) but I LOOOVVVVEEEEEEEEE breakfast foods for dinner. Nothing better.
ETA: By breakfast foods for dinner, I mean bacon, biscuits, eggs, toast, pancakes (only original buttermilk flavor), sausage, etc.
I hate sweet no matter what time of the day it is. My ideal "dessert" is nachos or chips and salsa or a taco. I am just not a fan of sweets ever. All that sugar makes my brain feel like it's going insane.
Which is odd because I drink soft drinks all day which are nothing but sugar.

I don't really question the concept of breakfast food at all; I do questions some of the choices people make for breakfast food.
Loading up on complex carbs and proteins to start the day is a good thing; loading up on sugar and fatty foods is not.
So, eat some eggs, fruit, and yogurt in the morning and you are good to go. Eating donuts, bacon and pop-tarts is not a good way to go. We feed our kids whatever we are eating, so there is very little chance of them getting a sugar-laced breakfast.
That being said, I am 100% in favor of "breakfast" food at other times of day, and am much more inclined to get eggs at lunch than I would be to get pasta/sandwiches at breakfast.

I like eggs in the morning with a cup of fresh strawberries and blueberries on the side. If I don't have time to make eggs, I'll have plain low fat yogurt or kefir with the berries.
On weekends I splurge and have smoked wild sockeye salmon from Whole Foods.
I also like oatmeal on the side and make this on Sunday night, store it in the fridge and heat a serving up in the micro in the am.
2 cups steel cut oats
1/2 cup oat bran
1/4 cup non fat dry milk
1/2 cup almond meal
1/4 cup ground flax seed
1/8 cup sesame seed
Cook according to directions on the steel cut oats and top with fresh berries.

Having my fill of Irish Steel cut this morning with some fresh strawberries. It use to be that it would take a while to cook, but you can buy the McCanns instant now, and it takes no time.

i guess i'm gonna have to google this Irish Steel stuff... Are my Food Club Quick Oats not as healthy, or tasty, or something?

ok, I googled, mine are less calories, less fat, less carbs, way, way less cost... Do these Irish Steel oats taste better?

for breakfast, i will do coffee and oatmeal most days. sometimes i will switch it up with cereal in the summer when i dont want a hot breakfast, but most cereals i buy end up being too sugary.

I eat a couple of eggs and maybe a piece of toast in the morning mostly as does my wife and daughter. We keep low fat granola and of course they both will eat Cheerios. Fresh fruit and we make a lot of smoothies as well. If I don't eat something early I feast at lunch which I only like to do about once a week.
We eat eggs for dinner quite often. Quick and light. Poached, over easy, scrambled and baked.
