Do these Irish Steel oats taste better?
I get those McCann's Steel cut from Calandro's or Whole Foods.. They're totally different from instant oats. They take longer to cook but they're more dense and have a richer flavor.. Like a two tablspoon serving and I'm stuffed. I think they're supposed to be healthier.
The fat that you may be seeing a decrease in when comparing instant to steel cut, is the Omega 3's and Omega 6's, the good fats that reduce cholesterol and help you burn up stored body fat.

most cereals i buy end up being too sugary.
Agree. I love the kiddie cereals that are pretty sugary, but I can't stomach them in the mornings. I've never really been able to. I stopped eating breakfast when I was 13. Sweets in the morning are hard on me.
Cereal as a LNS, on the other hand, is great.

I rarely eat breakfast during the week. My kids eat a dixie cup full of Fruit Loops and out the door they go. On weekends I cook really bad shite--waffles, bacon, eggs, pancakes, etc. It is a weekend ritual and shite that is bad for you tastes good. Plus, I down a Crestor, which keeps the pipes flowing.

I usually try to find a cereal that isn't too sweet and then add a sliced up banana to it.

I stopped eating that shite a long time ago since it just made me feel like shite all day. I stick with oatmeal, egg creations, toast and fruit.

Oatmeal...its the food of the gods.
Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner.
I'm not a big breakfast guy. When I wake up I'm not hungry at all. I feed the dogs, check email, try and kill the god damned snake hanging under my dock on the lake with my pistol as the sun comes up.
Then I'm off to Starbuck's for a small bowl of oatmeal and some espresso. That takes me through 2 hours of weight lifting and running with no problem.
By 11 am I'm still not hungry. Breakfast is over rated.

In an old Men's Health Magazine, they had an article
on protein rich breakfast that were non traditional.
One of my favorites was a tuna salad made with balsamic vinegar, diced red onion, and dried cranberres. Just make enough for a week and scoop it on a piece of whole wheat toast.
Savory, spicy, and sweet. Damn good breakfast.

I'm standing by Pasta w/ marinara sauce (with or without pulled chicken) as a good non-traditional breakfast.

So does all this mean beer for breakfast is okay?
