Looking for a Weber grill replacement.

I have A Weber Smokey Mountain, but I want to have another grill option that maybe doesnt quite so long to heat up. I grill on the WSM, but it takes time to get it lit and hot.

I like my traeger okay but I am looking for an option that could get into the 600-700+ degree range as an option.

I have a friend with a Traeger and he loves it. Only thing he complains about is not being able to get a good char on whatever he cooks.

I have a BGE and love it. The overall selling point for me was the lifetime warranty they come with.

I have a BGE. I like it, don’t love it. For whatever reason I can’t keep temps stable very easy. I’ve considered getting a digiQ but haven’t yet. Also a real PITA if you need to refuel during a cook.

I’ve thought about getting a Tragger or similar pellet smoker.

I do enjoy the BGE ability to cook at really high temps.

If this is happening then there is either user error or perhaps an issue with the gasket. This should not be happening.

There are accessories that make this easier. I have a PSWoo from Ceramic Grill Store and it allows me to pull out the smoke deflector and grate very easily.

I’ve only ever had to refuel once though, so it’s not something I encounter much.

Also might look at Woodwind by camp chef. Haven’t seen one in person but videos online look pretty good. Has the ability to cook at high temps I believe and some other cool features.

I love the DigiQ. Have one for my Weber performer. I would get the wifi one if I could do it over. It really makes it worry free and easy to bump the temps up and down a bit. Of course, the BGE holds temp a little better than a kettle.

It just isn't meant for that.

I have a Traeger. Most folks around my parts had one so I just got one.

It works for me and I don't know what I'm missing if anything.

KJ is coming out with a ceramic pellet smoker that can get up to 700deg. It’s just going to be pricy and it’s not real big...like a normal round ceramic size.

I have Primos and love them but I wouldn’t mind having a pellet smoker to play with. Not sure I’d get a traeger tho, I’d look for something with thicker metal I think.

I've been cookin on a Traeger for 15 years. It does everything I use it for. That being said, I also use a gas grill and a small charcoal grill. It all depends on what I'm cooking as to which one I use.

I think the right response to this would be to get a better grasp on what kind of meals you cook most often. I have a Kamado Joe classic and junior, and a Traeger. They all see some action depending on what's being cooked.

The Traeger (or any pellet grill) would win in the category of "ease of startup". Simple enough to turn a knob and walk away to do prep. Come back and the grill is right where you wanted it. It will not get super hot and there is no direct flame cooking.

The ceramic grill's edge in the fight is that it is a more versatile piece of equipment. Indirect, direct, low temperatures, high temperatures, rotisseries, woks, etc. That being said, there is a small learning curve to getting everything dialed in right in quick manner. The curve can be cut with use of one of the digital temperature controllers (DigiQ, etc.).

Yep. My propane grill, griddle, and smoker all have their time to shine.

I swear, the first person to make a ceramic pellet grill will be the winner. Imagine being able to smoke using a handful of pellets. I guess the biggest problem would be keeping them lit since they need a huge amount of air to stay going.

My neighbor has a BGE and he loves it. I have a cheapo pitboss and love it. He uses his grill about once a month and I use mine 3 times a week (if it's not raining all damn week). I like to grill and never had any problem getting my meat seared on my pellet grill. I don't even have to get it up more than 350. There are much better grills than Traeger and BGE though.

My buddy got a Traeger for Christmas and cooks on it all the time. It doesn't put out near enough smoke flavor for his Q.

I like my gas grill for grilling. Have a WSM for smoking. Would love a pellet smoker for convenience but he only confirmed what I've read about lack of smoke flavor on them.

I have a primo xl and a traeger sitting next to one another. I use the primo when I have more time and I want better tasting food. I use the traeger as oven that adds a little flavor to meat. It’s super easy but I think the primo is a better smoker. Plus you don’t get an error code on a primo.
