back in the 90's my Dad's office was close to the Egg Roll King on Sherwood Forest Blvd. He would eat lunch there numerous times a week. Something happened to him during one of those visits that was apparently so disturbing that he still to this day won't tell me what it was.....

Dude.......that is just cruel.

OMG I ate there this weekend and it was so awful.

I also was given a very poor review from a friend. I was wanting to try them out but think I will wait to see if they right the ship.

It has been over 25 years, and he still won't tell me. I do ask about it a couple of times a year hoping that one day he finally will share the story

You can only recommend one restaurant in baton rouge. What say you?

Out of towners: Louisiana Lagniappe.

There are many good options, but people from other places often have great spots. I love Gino's, but any reasonably sized city has excellent Italian food.

You're probably getting your best guaranteed meal at Ruth's, though.

Chimes. Especially with someone not from Louisiana.

Chimes has gone to crap in recent years. I wouldn't recommend it at all anymore.

Gino’s is the most overrated restaurant in BR.

Might want to get a Covid test, you’ve lost all taste.

If it’s so bad, why is it always packed?

I like to get there a little early, have a chance to talk with Jim. His food and drinks are top tier.

Chimes. Especially with someone not from Louisiana. I’m not saying it’s necessarily “the best restaurant” in BTR, merely saying it’s a good mix of food and vibe/crowd.

Maybe this is sacrilege but Chimes has massively declined in recent years and is trading on its past reputation imo.

For a place that has not been mentioned yet, I find Overpass Merchant has a good mix of food and ambiance.
