She specifically listed Bars and Restaurants.

But one has to assume breweries are in this, which makes zero sense when you can walk into a grocery store and buy beer?

I had to find a link because I thought surely you had misunderstood. Sadly you are correct

Here's a link for those interested.
Mayor Cantrell announces New Orleans ban on to-go alcohol sales following uptick in COVID cases

quote:

"Just because you can go out to dinner, or brunch, or to someone's house, that doesn't mean you should," Dr. Avegno said.

Mayor Cantrell said they are aware that the "trigger" of these large gatherings is paired with the sale of alcohol.

This makes no sense. Not sure why I was expecting it to but this seems beyond dumb. She going to push for a complete ban on alcohol sales next?

How long before alcohol is banned? Also, how does getting a drink to-go spread the rona but not getting food to-go? Can people still eat in restaurants?

The brewery is a good question.

They sell closed contained beer.

What about restaurant selling bottles of wine?

What's next?

"We realize that the "trigger" for most people going to the grocery store or the corner market is to get alcohol. Therefore, alcohol sales will be prohibited until further notice."

Packaged beer to-go is still okay, per conversations I've seen with a few brewers on the FB.

No idea why mayors have the right to shut a city down. Just doesn’t make sense. Could they say because of the climate ‘crisis’ you are not allowed to drive your vehicle around? Could they say just because we have obese people you can’t cook dishes with cream in them anymore? It’s the mayor...who gave them them control of EVERYONE’S life?

The permitting process, unfortunately.

Good thing the bar and restaurant industry isn’t vital to New Orleans.

I remember when everyone was voting and they were touting destroya when every single little thing about her just raised a flag. I'm not even political, but you could tell who is "for sure not looking out for the city and it's people"

Friend,

Great news! Let's hope we wise up and shut down all the breweries, distilleries, bars, and alcohol distributors. Alcohol costs our society enormously in terms of broken homes, broken bones, many groans, broken hopes, and the creation of misanthropes. The small price of losing a few hundred or thousand service industry jobs is a very small price to pay for the social improvement that will come with alcohol's prohibition.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

Sounds ripe for a class action lawsuit.
