My new wife and me are taking my grandson and his kids to eat in the Norlans area next weekend.
Are there any good places by downtown or across the bridge to get good desert for the kids? His oldest loves Creme Brusly but I don't know if there is the best place to get that somewhere or if any place between the french quarter and gretna will have it.
Thank you.

Debbie on the Levee is in Kenner, but great for kids. Dough Nguyener's Bakery in Gretna is delicious too.

I lean Chihuahuan - better snakes there.

A little out of the way, but Angelo Brocatto's on Carrolton is our favorite.
Sucre' on Magazine is another great spot.

Miss River has some butter fried beignets they’d love
For crème brulee, any restaurant owned by a Brennan will have it and will probably be good.
May I offer Tableau, which has a balcony overlooking Jackson square the kids may like? The food otherwise is passable, but I wouldn’t plan a whole meal there.

I've gotten Creme Brulee at Haydel's on Jefferson Hwy and it's solid. They usually have it. Might call first. Dough Ngueners(sp) would probably be a good try. All of their stuff is good.

A teacher once told us that dessert has two of the letter s. They stand for sweet stuff.
You could add that the single s in desert stands for sand.
