You got down voted bc of this. Its all mass produced, low quality food, with shite service, typically. Only chain restaurant like that worth going to is Texas Road House
Quality, local, restaurants that aren't chains are not suffering one bit.

It still blows my mind how much of the population is willing to pay 50-100% markups on fast food so they don't have to go get it.
Every so often I get a hankering but feeling lazy and load up a door dash order....get to the total and say frick that....and make a sandwich

Its a measure of my times value vs willingness to save money. If i have a hankering for a particular food but the wife and i are wanting to stay in that night it is not worth it to me to spend 45 minutes to an hour going get the food. thats time i could be spending on what i want to do,spending time with my spouse, etc. Time is my most precious commodity. If its a block down the street, then yeah, go pick it up.

Not only lazy, but the will complain about the cost of everything while paying someone to bring them their Taco Bell.

I refuse to order 3rd party delivery. I would order from the rare restaurant who has delivery, but it’s rare to find them now.

Makes sense to me. The people that must have the closest parking are probably the same crowd that Doordashes on occasion.
People not in a hurry, prefer getting out of the house, and eating in an environment they don’t have to clean are not the same people that don’t mind an extra 10 yards of walking. If they are like me, parking farther from the front door carries less risk of parking lot damage from other vehicles parking in more competitive higher traffic areas, the extra steps are good for health, and conceding closer parking to less healthy people is a nice courtesy.

The biggest bottleneck for me is fielding calls for issues with DSPs. The driver steals the food or the people are completely ignorant of the laws of physics. You put fried food in a Styrofoam box and waited an hour for it. Of course the quality is much lower than what you would get in the store. These calls take you away from other points of management that you could be working on. If I didn't schedule someone to handle to go orders I would certainly hurt my bar business though. I can imagine most mom and pop places do not have that option

If we’re going to place a to go order, I’ve noticed each item is priced higher than the in-restaurant prices. With the service fee and tip, it’s like paying for another diner to join us - 2 meals for the price of 3.
So I just drive there, order at the bar (if that kind of place) and have a beer while posting on TD while I wait.

It's because DD and UberEats takes close to 30% of the price of the item in fees.

Uber Eats charges restaurants commission fees ranging from 20% to 30% depending on the chosen plan, along with additional fees for delivery and marketing services. These fees can significantly impact a restaurant's profit margins, especially for orders from Uber One members, which incur a higher surcharge.

Have you seen how fat and disgusting a good chunk of the population is now?

When sober I show restraint. When drinking say frick it and go all in.

We’ve never used DD or UE one single time.
