Absolutely, 100% false.

Effort, originality, difficulty, skill, technique...all things used to judge it. How it looks to taste SHOULD be only a part of it.

I really would like everyone to judge on more than just "I want to eat that." But everyone has their own criteria.

Guess I'm fighting a losing battle here. I don't get it, but the votes will carry the day.

Exactly. I based my vote on how they described their method of cooking, what they did to the ingredients, and how the final product looks in a photo with the backdrop of knowing what they did. Entry 7 was in 4th place for me .. mad respect for what they did, but I went off of which ones I thought I'd most enjoy eating.

that could have influenced me picking 4 as the champ but it really did make my mouth water

Same. It was a tough group to judge.

If I'm going to be completely honest, the peppermint candied bacon sounded phenomenal. Maybe a burger isn't the most original thing but it sounded (and looked) like the best dish, or at least the one I would want the most out of the selection. But I'm no food expert, I just eat everyday

Anyway:

Current Voting:

4 is in first
1 is in 2nd
7 is in 3rd (1 and 7 are very close right now)

I hear you. And I understand that it's a burger, but it's not JUST a burger. There's a lot going on there. As others have stated, the use of the peppermint was ingenious, and I can imagine how the chorizo and venison would make an excellent blend.

It has to score high in the originality department. Maybe you could knock it in terms of difficulty, I guess? But if that's your standard 7 is the run away winner. Originality, skill, technique -- 7 has all of those in spades.

I think 7 just did something completely unexpected and original. And to me, it looked pretty delicious as well.

I'm a burger whore. But a burger in this competition gets an automatic deduction from me, unless its just the most amazing thing ever.

First: 7- Clearly the most creative. Too much effort to not be rewarded IMO

Second: 6- I think the dish would be very enjoyable, even if the cream ratio on the dish is high. IMO I do like the idea of the pepperment oil going into the sour cream. Bravo

Third: 4- easily the best use of the pepperment. Also, looks the most appetizing. I would rate higher based purely on a "want" to eat.

Bravo all around.

Some truly great dishes using 4 ingredients that are not simple to pair.

I think you aren't giving the use of the peppermint in #4 enough credit tho. I question the peppermint in some of the other dishes.

It was a creative use of peppermint. On a burger.

Sorry, I'll give up on this one.

4 is WAY ahead at this point. No one will come close to catching it.
