Will be in town next week for a graduation. FDB get together? Glass, if I was there this weekend I would definitely be hitting Fins for the FA Cup game.

Always a good time. Too bad you aren't in the next weekend. Champions League Final. Next Sunday though will be awesome.

"Never open a restaurant with a $10 check average, when you can open a restaurant with a $15 check average."
The entire time reading through this thread, this thought was going through my head. Such was the advice told to me when contemplating opening a full time burger restaurant. The fact is restaurants cost much more money to operate than just the cost of food. Insurance, staffing, rent, supplies, waste, etc... all add up. The reason I'd bet the prices at Dat Dog went up is because there fixed costs went up significantly.
All that said, $15 for a fresh ground hamburger patty, hand cut onion rings, and a beer from Company Burger - totally ok with. $15 for a sausage someone else made on a very good bun with some frozen fries - no thanks.

I think I'll stick with the simple Chicago Dog from Gott Gourmet with chips for about $6 (w/ fresh cut fries about $7) and eat it across the street at The Rendezvous Tavern with a cold draft beer and watch a game. But that's me.

I absolutely agree with you. I will absolutely pay top dollar for hand made food. And I know that the cost for CB to make that burger and hand cut fries or onion rings (including labor) are much higher than a sausage on a bun. There's not much labor involved there.
And the buns that they have are good, but nothing spectacular.
I really liked the place, thought it was a great addition to the Freret area, and the service was always great.
But I think it's sad that a family of four would be looking at around $60 to go out and have hotdogs and fries.

Prices on there website seem fair to me (unless they are diffrent now) and keep in mind these arent your run of the mill hotdogs. I'd pay $2-3 just for the bun, and lets not forget the toppings. I'm pretty sure the pricing at the new place includes tax too. Still a better deal than places like Subway.

The prices on the website are not updated. A regular run of the mill weiner is now $6.50 and the other ones are now $7.50.
And their bun is just a regular hotdog bun. They grill it, so that is a nice touch, but nothing spectacular.
Dude...if you're willing to pay $3 for a hot dog bun, you must have a serious carb addiction.
Just kidding, but that's serious stuff there.

If they've upped the prices, then they better take credit cards now.

It's not just a regular hot dog bun.

Don't encourage them, please. They'll probably want to find a way to take the 3% merchant fee loss and start charging for napkins to offset it.

Just gonna disagree on this one.

Sold, Company Burger for lunch.
Though I do go there at least every other week.
Its just a damn good simple burger.

Have to say you are wrong on this. IUt is nothing like a normal hot-dog bun, chck out my pic a couple of pages back.
Their bun is very good. But not as good as he Duong Phoc rolls used at BooKoo or the Liedenheimers used at Tru. (I never figured out what Company uses, but I know their hotdogs come from Donald Link's Cochon)

I don't think the bun is shaped like a normal bun...so it looks different, but to me it tastes like just a regular bun. Just my opinion.
And yeah...Boo Koo has the best buns...though obviously I might be a little biased.
And even with having better buns and it all being more labor intensive and homemade, we aren't charging as much.
Hell for only 50 cents more ($8), you get smoked meat (a lot of it), home made cole slaw with blue cheese in it, home made sauce, with hand cut fries.
I know what it costs to run a restaurant, and I still stand by the fact that $7.50 for a hot dog with nothing with it is too high...especially when you consider that frozen fries are $3 and bottled coke is $2.50.

It's similar to a lobster roll, which is not the same as a hotdog bun.

I eat BooKoo a lot and have always praised it, but my only complaint, albeit a small one is not knowing the operating hours (not posted in Finns)
I went there for an early dinner the other day at Five and it was closed.
I've been at 2:30 and it was closed and at 12:45 am. A few weeks ago I was telling some friends about the burger, four of us went in to each order one, and the window was open but the guy said "closed".
(Lee wasn't there those times)
Still the best burger IMO, but I have been going for the specials. I did give the PBJ and Bacon burger a try.
I just need to figure out the hours, though I never mind grabbing a drink from Finns.
And yes the Brisket sandwich is a great deal.
But sometimes you want lunch in Mid-City, Sometimes Uptown.
