I had Darrell's for the first time Saturday night. The Special was the best Poboy I have ever put in my mouth. I don't know how I have been missing out for so long.

It's pretty damn good.

I made a pretty good clone years back. I put jarred jalepenos in a tub of mayo and let it soak a few days. I then used some cold cuts and mccormick gravy packets.

If that microwaved bullshite is the best poboy you've ever had in your life, then you must not know where to get a good poboy

People here say it's over-hyped. It's a damn good sandwich and deserve the praise it gets.

Get the cheese bread with gravy next time you go...it's overlooked because of the special but is awesome.

The place was packed whenever we got there. Told my fiance that we would order some cheese bread the next time the waitress came to the table, figuring the poboys would take a little while. About a minute later she walked up with our meal.

Got there about 7:15, out of there at 7:41.

Dine in service has been much faster since they moved to go orders to a separate building

Darrell's has to be one of the most overrated eateries in the entire state. I don't understand the love for the place.

You have the palate of a child and don't eat mayonnaise because it's "icky". Your opinion on sandwiches is invalid.

I'm not sure how you can even call yourself a poboy place and not have a fried shrimp poboy on your menu.

If I'm in Jennings (that's the Darrell's location most accessible to me) and craving a poboy, I'm driving an extra 10 minutes Southeast to C'est Bon in Mermentau to have a delicious fried shrimp, oyster or crawfish poboy. Maybe a cup of seafood gumbo too. WAY better than anything I've tried at Darrell's.

It’s because people like their food. People don’t have to go there. They do so on their own volition. Because think the food is good. Lots and lots of people like their food. I am in that number. Stop by for a special anytime I’m in the area. It’s good. Does it fit the militant yat’s definition of a “poboy”? Probably not. But it’s a fine sandwich. Maybe it’s not for you. And that’s ok. But to help you understand “the love for the place”, I’ll again reiterate that it’s the food. People like it.

I've only been to the one in Jennings, but I'll be damned if that wasn't one of the best roast beef poboys I've ever had.

It may be because I live in the culinary wasteland that is New England and hadn't had a sloppy RB in years, but it was so good.
