A lot of "smarter than you" folks in here. Comparing a bourbon and a Canadian blended whiskey, is nonsense. Each have their good characteristics. But, if you like smooth, mellow whiskey over ice, the Crown fits that bill perfectly. If you like a deep, robust bourbon , the eagle rare, bullets, elijahs of the world fits that need just as well. And I enjoy both and stock them both in my cabinet.

Carry on.

Me and you could be friends. That is my exact same sentiment. I used to cringe at how often I had to pour crown, patron or grey goose as a bartender.

I'm glad you said it before me. Sips Evan on the rocks. I'm a simple man.

Drank Crown when I was younger. A lot of it. Now I’m on Eagle Rare, Baysel Hayden’s and Blantons!

Evan Williams is my go to for juleps. Makes a fiiiiine drink.

Elijah Craig and lemonade is another good one when it's hot.

When the sun goes down, it's usually knob creek on the rocks if I'm outside or neat if I'm inside.

I do not keep Crown in the house. Irish whiskey can be a fine substitute to be given to the women and effeminate men.

What’s wrong with patron or grey goose? Why would you cringe?

They are subpar products compared to their price that have/had great marketing which is why they are so well known. Because of their marketing, people that don't know what a good product is, know what they are and order only because they don't know any better. Compare them to any other similar product at the price point and they do not hold a straw to the others. There is not a single bartender in the country that likes any of those three brands.

I'm not. Just for instance, go learn about grey goose and how they were not selling well, because they don't have a good product, then created the now iconic grey goose bottle. The marketing pushed that it was a top shelf product in a sexy bottle and people began buying it thinking its the truth....it's not.

I know about grey goose. I think you’re wrong, and that you’re exaggerating.

Also, I don’t put too much stock in what most bartenders think. I’ve found that most can’t even make a proper martini.

You’re thinking about Absolute, not Grey Goose. Not that I buy either. I buy Svedka for $19/ handle. The other aren’t bad, just over priced.

If a vodka night... Equal parts dry and sweet vermouth over ice. Dump out. Shake vodka with ice and strain into a deep chilled glass.

If gin... Put ice in glass. Put ice in shaker. Look at a bottle of vermouth while pouring gin over ice. Don't look too hard at the vermouth. Stir gin and ice while not looking at vermouth. Strain into chilled glass.

Throw bottle of vermouth away.

A quicker, more efficient way of letting everyone know you’re a stupid frick is to just post “I’m a stupid frick”. Way less words
