Crawfish Boil Set Up - online purchase

Hey so I'm living in Dallas now, and want to purchase a solid crawfish boil set up online.
Does anyone have any suggestions on a solid website to do so, other than the big box stores like Academy?

Try Guidry Hardware. They are based out of Lafayette but they have it all. Also Austin’s Outdoors they are in the same building as St Landry Lumber Co. They do have a website.

For the pot, I’d just do a web search. I got one from academy shipped to my house a couple years ago for a good bit less than Amazon.
I wouldn’t go less than an 80 qt size pot as you can do a whole sack and lots of fixings in it.

These don't sell directly from their websites but you can get their contact information and call them. These are custom built and incredible if you do a lot of boiling. I just have a double jet burner and a 120qt pot because I only boil once or twice a year.

Why? A legit two sacks and all fixings is gonna be a really tight fit in a 100. If you go over 80, may as well just go to 120.
you can get a cheap SS pot and basket from concord for 170. I have 2 of these 80 qts in my brewing setup. LINK one of mine did have a pin hole in it though that i soldered shut. so i would inspect the moment you get it. I didnt send back because i already drilled all my holes in the pot.

I bought the Hughes 2 yrs ago and love it. Best part for me was wind doesn't affect the flame at all and the design really captures the heat from the dual burner jets.

That’s funny you said that because I have an old Times Picayune clip from the 60’s with a boil recipe that calls for a 60qt. pot. My grandpa used a 60qt his entire life for crawfish but he started doing the fixings in a separate pot eventually. I just upgraded to a 120qt today to be able to do 2 sacks at once.
As for SS, stay away from stainless for boiling crawfish. The heat retention is off the charts compared to aluminum. That SS pot will stay hot for a week.

As others have said, find an aluminum pot you like off amazon. I think I have an 80 qt King Cooker.
For burner, find you a plant baw and get him to make that bitch out of stainless steel tubing. Likely you will get it for cheap because he will be taking the material from his jobsite. Them bithces are bad arse and fold up for easy storage and transportation.

I went from an old 80qt pot that the handle bolts rusted off to a new 100qt pot 2 yrs ago. I wish I would have gone with another 80qt pot. It worked better for my needs. I don't do a lot of big time boils. Mostly 10-12 people.

I have an 80 qt(handed down from my dad)
You have to really take your time with loading/unloading/stirring everything or you will have boil overs. Everything is extremely tight with a sack and fixins. For the minimal price increase, If i was buying new I would get 100qt. I dont see any real drawbacks

You sure you have an 80?
I've had a 37 pound sack in mine with 2 bags of fruit, bag of onions, bag of garlic, bag of potatoes, 2 packs of sausage, big pack of mushrooms. All that had plenty of space, at least a few inches from the top of the pot.Posted on 3/25/21 at 2:06 pm to LNCHBOX
