Please help an old girl out. I have questions about buying crawfish. What kind do they have besides Belle River? Which are the best? Do places that sell live crawfish have different origins to pick from, or do you just ask what kind they have that day and take it or leave it? And finally, do they come in different sizes, like if I only wanted to buy large ones, or do you only get a mixture of sizes in each sack? Thank you everyone in advance!

You get what you get. You can't pick where from or what size.

Sure you can.

You can ask for select or graded
You can ask for pond or spillway

Of course you have options. Just gotta know what to ask for and where to go

Depends where you get them from. I know of a couple places that sell them washed and graded. Meaning they run the crawfish through water to clean them and then pick out the large, medium and small ones and sack them accordingly.

Some places you can choose between spillway or pond. Spillway are typically larger and have bigger claws which to me is more waste. I thing you get the most bang for your buck with a nice medium size pond.

ETA; some people also sell field run, which is neither washer or graded. Whatever the fisherman catches goes straight into the sack and that's what you get.

You don’t need any crawfish.

And you could drive a semi through that gap

You should be able to hand select them one by one.

And don’t forget to dispatch each one with a sharp knife into the brain stem before you cook them. It’s more humane that way.

Go to 9:30-he shows you how

It helps if you name them
