Besides the Barny Rubble Ribeye does Costco actually offer a superior selection for carnivores?

I like costco's meat. It's pretty good. Costco is a good store but it always seems like there's several muslims there

Just wish they didn't blade tenderize the nice cuts of meat that don't need it.

Sorry, I'm not buying a ribeye cap to cook to 160F

I asked a guy while he was buying that mass of beef how he was cooking a Ribeye of that size.

Sear it then put it in on slow smoke.

Can get packer brisket <$3lb on the reg. Whole pork loin is a good value.

Best kept secret is the 2lb bag of boneless rotisserie chicken. They did the work for you.

I've gotten their whole USDA Prime briskets for $2.79 a lb. before. Untrimmed, so there's some waste, even if brining it to make a corned beef.

I usually just smoke them whole and it is fork tender when done.

Just hang out by the liquor and pork sections they shouldn't bother you there.

Load up your cart with the bulk packs of Kirkland bacon and chase them around the store. Good times

First time I ate meat from Costco was when I was up in Bloomington, IN several years ago helping a good friend frame up an addition on his house.

He went to Costco and bought a whole ribeye and cut it into 1 1/2 inch thick steaks and grilled them. They were excellent and I'm glad N.O. finally got one of their store right off Carrollton Ave. The wife and I shop there for most of our food needs.

I'm with you, but if it was a real problem you would hear about people getting sick from Costco beef.

I still don't understand why they blade tenderize prime beef though. Anybody know what the reasoning behind this is?

Thats how I see it too. I’ve never heard of one person getting sick due to the blade tenderizer....

I love prime steaks I get at Costco and there are some in the fridge right now. I'd never heard of blade tenderizing till this thread. Did y'all just give me something new to worry about?

ETA: Never mind, the package doesn't mention blade tenderizing and it says 145 is the temp!

yeah I definitely still eat them medium-rare, but it just doesn't make sense why they do this and possibly expose us to more risk

I need to join Costco. We live about 2 miles away from the BR one yet I've never been.

Get someone to let you go with them before you join to see what it's all about as far a quantity and quality of goods, availability of things you use, whether buying some things in bulk is optimal for you.

It is just the wife and I for now and I do almost all of my shopping for groceries at Costco and get some things at the local Rouses that Costco doesn't have that we like.

As for paper goods like paper towels, toilet paper, napkins, Kleenex---you can't beat the prices and it won't go bad no matter how much you buy. I also use their dish soap, soap powder, kitchen storage stuff like foil, wax paper, clear cling wrap.

The only thing I am careful with buying are fruit and vegetables since they often come in large quantities and if not eaten in a timely manner, they can go bad. But things like that can be shared with other family members if it is too much.

Just the savings in gasoline alone will often pay for the membership card and my wife and I both have Executive cards that give us cash back at the end of the year, and that is enough money to pay for card renewal and put money in our pockets.
