We went a time or two during our trips to Japan. It's pretty awesome, you just grab whatever you want as it passes by, and you're charged based on the color of the plate.

You can eat until you're full but you're not wasting food or money.

At the sushi-go-round in Yakasuka, a robot took our order for drinks and such.

went to one in Tokyo, Numazuko. It was pretty tasty, fresh wasabi had me teary.

The trick is to sit near the beginning of the conveyor belt or else you get left with crap at the end. You can usually put in an order at most places, though, so you just have to wait a little longer.

We went to the Sushi Boat Restaurant in San Francisco years ago. The plates are color-coded for prices. Grab items off the boats as they float by, and your bill is based on your stack of plates.

There's one in Austin I've been to. It's cool, but if you're not careful it will burn your wallet. Things range from $1 to $5, if I recall.

Houma, LA of all places had one of them. It has since closed. My brother and I use to eat there often.

There was a place in Tulsa that had a train that would travel along the wall of the restaurant besides the booths that carried all of their rolls. You grabbed what you wanted and the price was dependent on what color the plate was. Not the best sushi in Tulsa, but it was good and a cool experience.

We have one here near my house in the suburbs of Dallas. Constantly packed.
