Good god, that's some silliness.
I'd like to try the beer all the same.

Bug - how do you find someone to trade with? I really, really, really want to find:
1) Heady Topper
2) Pliny
3) Sip of Sunshine

Depends on which batch of Heady?
I have all batches of ghost to trade, but I probably won't let go of anything older than batch 3.

You can go the Reddit route.
You can buy direct from a place in california. www.blackwellswines.com you can order a bunch of stuff from the west coast. I've gotten pliny and damnation from Russian river from there before. Sometimes Pliney isn't listed so you may want to call them and see.
Where i got my shipment from was beerexchange.io Lawson's is still on my radar to try and get.
Also, you can try homebrewtalk.com's beer swapping forum.

Had plenty of Heady and Ghost (batch 4?) and, while I like Ghost quite a bit, Heady is still an all around better DIPA. It's all hops from start to finish. Ghost is a bit more malty and fruity, which is great. It falls short of Heady, though.

Well this was my opinion based on having them a day apart from each other very recently. Based on color alone, it seems they have a very similar grain bill. And i taste hops all the way through on both. Like i said, i found the first part of the flavor to be similar, but they both differed on the back end, IMO.
Each has their own preference. I have 2 more Heady's and 3 more ghosts, so maybe a 2nd comparison is in order.

Not a bad scenario to repeat
. Don't get me wrong, though, Ghost is fantastic. I just feel like I'm chewing on a whole cone hop when I drink Heady

Current iteration of Ghost is far and away the best beer I've had from LA. Agree with the aroma part but comparing beyond that with Heady is hard. Different hops at play. Comparable? Sure... Better? Depends on my mood.
I don't know that I would consider Heady the best IPA on planet. Focal was better than Heady and some of the Hill Farmstead, Trillium, Lawson's and other brews could easily hold their own with Heady.

Nicely done Bug
I'm lucky enough to have a good friend that lives in the north east and he gets me alot of great beers, Lawson, Tree House, Heady, Trillium and so on and the 1st time i sent him Ghost (batch 4) he was blown away and favored it over Heady,
batch 5 not so much! He has (2) 4 pack going north and I'm sure he will be happy this time.
For me Heady wins out by a nose, its got this amazing mouthfeel that you don't get out of most any other ipas and its so incredibly balanced.
but both are World class beers.
But I also think the chase subconsciously makes "rare" beers better,
There are other dIPAs that are fantastic, some are easier to obtain. So I definitely think there is a psychological aspect to it, and while whether or not it is the best dIPA is highly subjective, I don't think anyone can deny both are really good beers.
this came in yesterday so my side by side later

FYI, Blackwell's got their Russian River account pulled due to shipping. So you'll have to find someone else to send Pliny to you now. Or go to the source, like I did.
