A valuable life lesson for navigating thematic dining "holidays"...
St. Patrick's Day = Mexican Restaurant
Cinco De Mayo = Irish Pub
Go where you know the crowds will be low!

Idk why Americans love cinco de mayo so much. Half the country hates Mexicans but want to celebrate their holiday

C'mon, it's Friday. And you need a drink.

Illegals are not the same thing as Mexicans. And you need a drink, too.

Ok, pissed of was too much I know. I had a few drinks last night.
Like just about every holiday or special event, the cool kids just come out to say how much they dislike Cinco on the OT.

Anyone have suggestions for the best margaritas in town/drink specials for today? Leaving work early to start the festivities and celebrate my bday

I'll probably go to El Magey. I love that place and this just gives me an excuse to go

Probably every Messican place in the Baton Rouge area will be crowded. I'm going to meet some friends at Superior Grill on Government after work but who knows if we'll get a seat.

It's a shame the Superior being built on Highland didn't open in time to do a big grand opening today. That would have killed. Although half the staff probably would have quit on the spot

Happy Birthday!
If I was venturing out tonight, I'd probably want to check out Velvet Cactus. A lot of bartenders from a couple bars in BR are working their outdoor bar (so familiar faces), and they seemingly have a big party going on.
Otherwise, Lava Cantina and Superior are always the biggest parties. Werewolf and then Booty Werk always play Lava on Cinco, which is fun.

Or wait until tomorrow and go see Marc Broussard play over there. Not sure how they managed to land him. He's a better act than any of the Blues Fest or Live After Five acts this spring.

I think I'm gonna hit up El Rio Grande. Their guacamole, enchiladas con huevos, and chocolate chimichanga are on-point
