Chinese food and their meat

Is there any chance that Chinese restaurants aren't using the meat they claim to be using?
On one hand, all the meats have the same texture and they don't seem like chicken or beef.
On the other hand...there has to be health inspectors checking them out from time to time right?

Do you think it is cheaper to buy cheap beef, pork, and chicken or cheaper to go out and source cat and dog?

realistically it makes more sense that the meat is what they claim....but there are two things I can't get past:
1 - The texture...it's always rubbery and the same color no matter what you get
2 - Chinese people eat dogs and cat

It is they style in which they cook it. Also, it is probably all frozen and not fresh.

I would prefer to not see you go all sissy on us and do the urp/gag emoticon, because real men don't throw up when they eat cat or dog.
They also don't spend the next day on the toilet as so many who post here claim they do.

I've been getting various chicken combos from China Bear on Bluebonnet/Perkins for years. It's the same every single time but just with a different sauce. Sesame chicken or General Tso's doesn't make a difference.

Well they did catch that one Chinese restaurant owner bringing roadkill in through the back. I doubt it's widespread though.

Meridian has been a touch salty today.
Although he is correct about the knuckleheads claiming intestinal distress from seeing pictures of food.
I like Chinese food but agree the texture is different than normal but that comes from the way the food is prepared.
On that note, I think I was served rat at an Indian place in Memphis back in the late 80s. Chicken isn't red meat.

I honestly don't care what it is, as long as it tastes good. If it's really sweet and sour puppy chops, so be it.

Gosh, MD, you made me laugh. I think there are more people (well, "men") on this board with intestinal sensitivities than out in the world.
I've always thought the textures of some of the meats in Chinese dishes resulted from cut and cooking methods.

I've wondered this too. Anything in a sauce is suspect as none of the meats look right. Some of the chicken dishes are obviously chicken, but other tims I look at the fork and wonder if that's some quadraped they caught in the dumpster.
Just glad I only eat Chinese about once a quarter.
