Cornbread-beans
Either way works for me
I agree with this. If I'm having just a bowl of chili, I like beans. Throwing chili on top of a hotdog? No beans.

Cook a batch of good chili
Cook a batch of pinto beans
Make a batch of black iron skillet cornbread
Either eat each separately, or combine at will
There really is no right or wrong way

If I'm using beans I want black beans. I prefer no beans but my wife is weird so I'll add them every once in a while to make her happy. Also cubed meat cooked down>ground meat.

Same here. My wife doesn't like red beans as much, so we've been using a big can of black beans in Chili and Taco Soup for years.

when i make chili its always as a heavy hearty meal and that gets beans.
if doing specifically chili dogs, sure, no beans. but i dont think ive ever cooked chili with that intent.

Chili does not contain beans.
Putting beans in it creates some weird mutant dish that some people like, but it's not chili.
