I thought the bottles suggested something along these lines. If what the other poster said were true it wouldn't just be unethical, it'd be fraudulent.
Look. The guy has a manufacturing plant on highway 70 across the railroad tracks on the way to...ok you people God's country. Behind the plant in plain view from the road is an olive orchard which you can drive down a blacktop and right into it if you want. If you go to the front office and tell them you want a tour or watch what they do they will let you come in and they will bring you through it. He's more transparant than Obama and he didn't promise hope and change.
Some of the stuff he puts out isn't up to par. Some is. The olive oil and the creole cream cheese as well as his artisinal cheeses are great. Frozen soup blows. Whatever you think about him or his company is personal opinion. If you think he's an a-hole well maybe he is an a-hole to you. Not to me. But to just make up lies is a whole different story.

The soups are not the greatest, but the creole cream cheese is very good. I don't like him personally, but he does have a few products that work. The cookbooks saved his arse a long time ago. There are a bunch of people who have worked for them that will tell you some interesting things. I wouldn't use him for a wedding, but he dos keep a steady flow of people wanting him to cater their weddings.

I wasn't saying I thought the alleged slanderer was right, I was saying I thought you were right. Why just call him unethical when you can call him fraudulent if you're telling the truth?

I worked for him. Not a great business man. If it wasn't for his cookbooks and his boil a bag soup, he would have gone out of business years ago. As far as his olive oil. He lies. He litteraly orders EVOO from Sysco and pours it in his bottles and resales it. He's very unethical.

Yeah, I'm no huge fan of Folse, in general, but that sounds like one hell of a charade to pull off and then sell repackaged sysco olive oil.
Can't imagine what the point would be.

I am no big fan and never met the guy but
He's cooked for Popes and Presidents, not many here can say that.
As for a being a bad Businessman, I highly doubt that. He recently did a major addition to his plant, not to many bussinesses are expanding in these times.

Haters gonna Hate. Everywhere you find a successful businessman, you'll usually find a lot of unappreciative jerks spreading rumors and talking smack about the way he does business or manages them.
Grow up. He was obviously nice enough to give you a job and a paycheck. If you didnt like it, quit, I'm sure you were replaced in about 45 seconds with someone who WANTS to work with him.
Bitching and complaining about the boss is something I'll never understand. Most foodservice employees are forever ungrateful, no matter how well you treat them, or how much they're paid.
It all boils down to him making a killing, the haters are jealous, and as much as you hate him or talk smack, the boss will still be the last one laughing.. all the way to the bank.

That wasn't directed at you. It was the douchebag above with the made up lies and the tampon string hanging. I just click and post.

No matter what type of business a company engages in, there are always people that are disgruntled by the success of the man at the top.
I actually liked the soup and was pissed when walmart stopped selling it. The only one I didn't like was the red beans and sausage which had NO sausage the two times I bought it.
All of the soups were light on the meat but the flavor was certainly good for mass produced soup.
I don't know a thing about him, but I have always enjoyed his show and he certainly appears to be a great ambassador for the state.
Most guys that get to the top end up stepping on quite a few people to get there so of course there are going to be some disgruntled employees and sometimes rightfully disgruntled.

i ran into him at an Academy one time in his full Chef outfit. He looked at me like i was crazy for not getting out of his path. Looking back on it, i should have whipped his arse then had him make me pancakes while wearing a dress

I too had a high opinion of the guy before someone close to me went to work for him. Let's just say that opinion has changed. Some of his products are pretty good, though.
Posted on 7/29/10 at 12:52 pm to Swamptom
he probably is a dick to work for, but with his name on the product, can you blame him?

Something about his, has always struck me as a bit more contrived than most others, though. Enough so that I wouldn't get too upset over this point.

same here, but it never bothered me.....just kind of what i thought. But, i have only spoken 10 or fewer words to him in person so i have no clue if it's just a TV schtick. If it is, who cares, it works.

Extremely bad comparison. Barry's momma was no glass blower. Transparent my arse.

I went to every retail store in Pville on Tuesday, and asked if HeadSlash was there....

I think he works in Baton Rouge.

Which reminds me of P'Ville produce which isn't that good but did have some really great Liuzza Creole tomatos the other day and since mine are just about played out and my fall plants are about a foot tall I loaded up. Hard to pass up a good creole tomato.
