I've never seen his show.

I don't know anything about the guy, other then the fact that he does those St. Vincent dePaul commercials on the radio.

A few F&D posters have slammed him, especially his wedding reception services. Obviously one poster was threatened with legal action. I'm genuinely curious why so many people hate the guy (I don't care one way or another).

I had my daughters wedding at White Oak over 10 years ago, no problem, great food, great facilities. Never met Folse, just his employees. Met him years later professionally, seemed like a nice guy.

Those aren't the only threads. I've posted in a couple of threads that were removed when they devolved into Folse Hate.

What about his cookbooks? I have his first big one called the Encyclopedia of Creole and Cajun Cuisine. I've only cooked a couple of recipes out of it, but the Crawfish Etoufee was awesome. For somebody from Iowa that has never cooked this way before, I found his directions really simple and easy to follow. Just wondering how authentic everything is.

Just a recap of the taping yesterday. He did a great job of promoting La. and our way of life.We did get to eat some Fried and Fricasse'd frog legs. He's a natural entertainer in front of the cameras. His Taste of La. show is in the top 3 Public Television Broadcasts in the USA ratings every year. His show is regularly picked up by over 350 stations world wide. I had no idea the guy was so hated by this board,IMO he's a buisnessman that can talk a lot and cook a little, but you've got to give him props for his love of La. and his enthusiasm for our way of life.If he gets rich because of it.............Good for him.

Like him or not he is a great Ambassador for Louisiana, Louisiana seafood and Louisiana cooking.

I've worked with him on occasion for over twenty years or so and never had a problem and I don't get the fake accent comments. He's talked like that as long as I've known him both in public and private and I know a lot of people from that area and many sound the same.

I have no clue what type of person he is, but he is behind a lot of the local ingredients you can get in the area, from creole cream cheese and butter to olive oil. I ate at one of his restaurants once many years ago and the food was quite forgettable though.

A list of local products he puts out

His accent is as annoying as anyone else from that area. He does a lot for this state. He deserves a pass.

olive oil.

I highly recommend it. It is a blend of Spanish and French olives that he grows in an orchard just behind his plant. I think it's pretty neat to get local olive oil that is much better than most commercial brands and can hold it's own with more top tier olive oils.

I give many bottles out for christmas gifts.

Me neither. But my future wedding will be at White Oak so I hope his employees are good :)

ETA: I could give 2 shits about his accent.

Never seen this. Is it available in La. grocery stores?

I suspect its taste has a lot to do with the freshness. I'd be really interested in trying it.

I have been to two weddings there.

Not to worry, the food was very good. Nothing earth shattering, but very good.

I worked for him. Not a great business man. If it wasn't for his cookbooks and his boil a bag soup, he would have gone out of business years ago. As far as his olive oil. He lies. He litteraly orders EVOO from Sysco and pours it in his bottles and resales it. He's very unethical.

You sir are a liar yourself. I have watched the process from start to finish and watched the trees being planted and olives being picked as well as the pressing and bottling. I assume since you worked for him you are not a great businessman yourself.

Plus you said EVOO which automatically makes you ghey.

If you want to make up shite how about just STFU douchebag.

I thought the bottles suggested something along these lines. If what the other poster said were true it wouldn't just be unethical, it'd be fraudulent.
