Is it pretty much a tourist attraction now?
Do locals find this place to be the best option for a muffaletta?

Where's your go to place for a muffaletta?

Best one I've ever had come from Lovecchio's Deli in Norco

They invented the sammage and to this day are used as a measuring stick for it. They are currently 20$ and bout how I remember em. I think several shops have improved on them but I still like central groceries. Best I remember was from the come back in dont think its open now though.

I’m not impressed with muffs from Central Grocery. I love R&O’s. I can’t say they’re the best bc there are plenty of others folks like that I haven’t tried.

Central Grocery.
Nothing else is even close.
No one has the bread that CG has.

I've tried a lot of places and enjoyed a few muffs. The last two times I hit CG I did consider them among the best if not the best.

I prefer more meat than whats at CG, IMO - the bread dominates their sandwich. Maybe thats how it was supposed to be years ago.... but others have improved upon it.

Some even heat them and use mayo! Some say blastphomy, I say yummy! Lol.

Gonna try Parenton’s based on Nap’s recommendation. I like R&O’s

I really like Dimartino's best. Their bread is house-made and they have a smaller version for 1 person. I think they also claim some kind of history with the sandwich, maybe it's the bread.

Will try. May take me a year to try 2 diff muffs tho.

I rarely buy them. I do, however, buy Central Grocery’s Olive Mix to make my own

One of my buddies makes “Muff Sliders” at parties by splitting Kings Hawaiian Rolls and adding meats and olive mix... then baking till cheese melts. I dont care for the sweet bread, but they are devoured at his parties.

Re:Mayo... yea, cant lie - I thought the same thing... had a baked muff w mayo one time and it was awesome. Im sure I am in the minority of the NOLA population on that one tho.

If I picked up a muff with mayo on it I would burn it down.

I’m not a fan of a muffuletta because I just don’t like that big thick bread. But I will eat a tray of the mini muffulettas at a tailgate regardless of where they came from.

They're pretty good. I used to think they were a bit overpriced, but then I tried making them myself. Man what a pain in the arse! Just buy some.

Yeah, I guess I may have eaten a mini in a drunken state but I can’t recall the last time I drove some place to order one.

The mini muffs are better, to me, made w rolls rather than the little seasame buns.... those buns are hard and thick... alot like why I’m not crazy about CG’s - too much bread
