Casamento's Tonight!!!

My wife and I walked down to Casamento's to catch it one more time before it closes for the summer (May 25).
Great as usual. Oysters were fat and salty. The softshell crab was perfect. I love that place. Catch it before their vacation. They won't open back up until September 10.
Oh, by the way, it's amazing how you can casually walk from your house down Magazine after dark . . . plenty of people out enjoying the weather . . . lots of places open . . . a lot of our neighbors out near our house with their kids . . . but, you know, N.O. is soooooooo dangerous.

I know. New Orleans is the only city in the country with bad neighborhoods. Pity. What's your point?
Oh, and it's sort of ironic . . .or at least interesting . . . to think of this part of Uptown as becoming "gentrified".

It certainly is turning around since 1991 when a friend of mine bought a huge house in decent shape on Magazine not far from there for $140,000 that's now worth over a million easily. The river side of Magazine was a problem during the 1980's.

I've bought and sold more than one property Uptown over the years so I have a decent feel for the market over the last couple of decades. Wouldn't refer to most of it as "gentrification".

NO is a great place to visit. I love to visit it...and then go home. It is a dangerous city by any measure...that's just reality...it' s just a fact.

Uh, not in the 7th Ward, nope, we skipped that one. However, it was a lovely Mothers Day in other parts of the city.
ETA: By the way, it's a shame that it happened to those people and I in no way minimize it. I'm just being realistic about what is dangerous and what is not.

This isn't really the board, but I'd be willing to get into specifics . . . actual incidents and where they occur. Frequency. Who the victims are. You do know that does make a difference when it comes to "danger" to you or any individual, right? Are does a shooting in N.O. East endanger one's life on Pitt Street?
What, specifically, are you afraid will happen to you? Where would this occur?

Here's the sad fact. If you're middle class, don't mess with drugs or hang out in shitty neighborhoods or associate with criminals or dangerous people, you're chance of being a victim is not very significant.

You're the one not making sense . . . or at least not making any cogent point . . . by simply stating the city is dangerous. There are different levels of danger in every city depending upon where you live and what you do. Are you totally oblivious?
