I told some friends that I would meet them at the Sherwood location in Baton Rouge. I have never been there. Is it any good or should I eat somewhere else beforehand and just have drinks there?

I've never really had a bad meal at CCG

Everything there is worth trying...
Good hearty meals in gigantic portions.
French dip my favorite sandwich.
Like mentioned, the pork chops are out of this world. Salads are something special as well

It was the first restaurant in BR I went to after evacuating from Katrina. This was the downtown locale. This is probably a couple of weeks in. I'll never forget literally weeping at the table, after opening the menu, and seeing nothing but the typical Sysco rundown.

I am a N.O. native and very picky, but unless something has changed, that isn't CCG you're talking about. We went there a few weeks ago and had house ribeye for 2 for $30, great steak.
The menu is not ambitious, but I have had some pretty good stuff from CCG. Almost all restaurants buy some supplies from SYSCO, only the crappy ones buy fully assembled meals to zap. CCG isn't one of them.
No, BR ain't NO, no other city is that, but there is a lot to chose from.

Very solid, never a bad meal there.
They have one of the best burgers in town as well as prime rib.
The owner of CCG also owns Stroube's.

Haven't been back since I got food poisoning from the seafood pasta

I've went there several times. The gumbo is very good, fried seafood is solid, and the fries are very good. Also had the bread pudding and liked it a lot. Never had a bad meal there.

I can see weeping for your lost possessions, the lives of others, the unfortunate circumstances, but not over a fricking meal.

FYI Stroube's downtown is under the same ownership and the same chefs....
Everything is high quality and prepared fresh.
