I don't see why not. I've had them stuffed with many different dressings/stuffings. Can't be much different than using things like cornbread or any other rice based dressing.

Just make sure the bird is fully cooked because a lot of the juices from the turkey will leech into the boudin.

Stuff it with boudin then stuff the bird in an emu, then an ostrich and then batter and fry it

Yes, but why smoke it? That's a lot going on.

I thought we weren't stuffing turkeys anymore. Is that not the case?

The reasons I've heard to not stuff a turkey are:

1. The turkey cooks unevenly when stuffed. An empty cavity is necessary for convection or some such.

2. The stuffing doesn't cook properly. Under cooked turkey juices get into the stuffing giving everyone who eats it food poisoning.

3. The stuffing doesn't really benefit from being inside a turkey. Just cook it on the side. Same taste.

4. The turkey meat doesn't get any tangible flavor from the stuffing. The only thing that really gets absorbed is whatever salt is in there. You should brine your turkey anyway.

In my mind, the only reason to stuff a turkey is if you want a side dish, but don't have room on the stove or in the oven for another pot.

Might be your best post on TD. I’m glad you’ve taken up those lesson plans on posting I shared with you last year.

If that was truly the case, then everyone who's ever eaten a Turducken must have gone to the hospital or is 6 ft. under.

It's not possible. You can try but the boudin just won't go in.

I do it every time I cook a turkey I the oven. Never tried on the smoker, but there are no issues with using boudin as stuffing.

I’ve done it with rice dressing so yeah.

Also use boudin and stuff some green bell peppers and bake. Good stuff.

I've done it and wouldn't do it again. The sum is not as good as the parts. The reason for turkey is gravy.

I like the idea. It would allow me to eat the boudin and avoid turkey, which sucks.
