Impastato's is over rated and over priced. Liuzza's by the Track is a New Orleans legend. Next.

Please explain why Impastato's is bad and you have to be old to enjoy it? I don't know what to tell you if you like Impastato's and think its good, except more power to you

Bunchie there’s no difference between places like Imps, Vincent’s, Venezia, Sal & Judy’s type places. It’s in an outdated building in Fat City but the food is good if that’s the cuisine you’re going for.

I mean I am never going for that cuisine to be honest, but I do think Vincent's and to a lesser extent Venezia are better
The building is incredibly outdated, its almost all frozen sysco shite, the bar program and wine programs are laughably bad. Quite literally the worst old fashioned I have ever had in my life
The pecan smoked steak or whatever it is is pretty good

Joe Imp practically lives there, I dint think it’s frozen Sysco shite. I wouldn’t seek the place out but the times I’ve been the food has been good. Best fried shrimp I’ve ever eaten. It ain’t Paladar but I think the state of the place is greatly exaggerated here

Friend,
Fun Bunch’s indictment of Impastato’s for serving Sysco food would be considerably more persuasive if he shared actual and authentic criticism of the restaurant. Until then, this is culinary criticism by innuendo, a fine substitute for knowledge among those who possess little of the latter. We see such types here occasionally, the ones who likely have no real roots in our city, besmirch our great institutions in favor of Eater’s top 25. Publicists’ words and interior decorating are for these people more powerful than the meals on their plates.
Mr. Joe sources seafood directly from individual Louisiana shrimpers, fishermen, and crabbers. The only seafood not from Louisiana waters served at Impastato’s is the lobster. As Ryno correctly observed, his fried shrimp are the finest in Louisiana and, by extension, America.
The pasta is homemade, the sauces are made in-house or by his brother in the kitchen of Sal and Judy’s, and the bread comes from Angelo’s Bakery in Metairie. His salad dressings are all house made using imported olive oil and cheeses. His desserts are made either in-house or by Brocato’s.
Perhaps Fun Bunch should review the food rather than invent its provenance. It is doubtful, though, we would get more than one sentence criticism if that were to happen. And Impastato’s interior is the finest existing example of early 1980s Creole Italian NFL design. Renovating it would be a crime akin to what they have done to Piccadilly interiors.
Yours,
TulaneLSU

Thanks for that in depth detailed explanation. Old people like it so it’s not good! Phenomenal insight, don’t know what this board would do without your expert knowledge.
