Rouses has some.

I stopped at the Rouse's on Burbank today looking for the chicken stew. All they had was the seafood gumbo and shrimp stew. I got a jar of shrimp stew and "cooked" it tonight. It is every bit as good as the chicken stew. Such an easy meal. It is amazing how good these products are.

Someone was raving to me about the chili mix this week. I guess I know what I will be hunting at the grocery store soon. I love chicken stew.

You are not going to believe how good it is for something from a jar.

I'm telling you, I tried their spaghetti sauce about a year and a half ago and I've never made a homemade red sauce for spaghetti again. It needs absolutely nothing added to it except the protein of your choice.

Same thing with the stews. I need to try the spaghetti sauce.

Are all of their products have enough vegetables (onions/garlic/celery/bell pepper) that you don’t have to “jazz it up” with your own? Basically I could buy a rotisserie chicken and a pound of sausage and this stuff and have a solid gumbo?

Yes. The better the sausage, the better your gumbo will be.

My thoughts exactly. If you have been browning ground meat, then seasoning with Tony's (or similar) and trying to add another thing or two to make what YOU think is the best spaghetti on the planet.....relax...Cajun Power totally takes you there.

You like it better than McIlhenny chili starter? I use Cajun power everything all the time but have yet to try the chili starter just because I was brought up on McIlhenny. Not their Tabasco though, I’ll take Crystal or Louisiana

I find this interesting because in general, I love their stuff, but really didn't care for the Cajun Spaghetti Sauce. The Marinara version was better, but I didn't find it to be superior to the regular stuff that's been out for years.

Is the spaghetti sauce just normal red sauce, or do they try to “Cajun it up”? I usually go with Rao’s sauce when buying store bought sauce.

What size jar is enough to serve 2? I'm going to purchase some online but I'm not sure on portion sizes.

There are two versions.

The second one is Cajuned up.

quote:

Similar to Cajun Power spaghetti but made with only fresh tomatoes and no tomato paste. This is a more Italian style marinara. Not as spicy as the spaghetti sauce but packed with just as much flavor.

I really like the cajun power cajun spaggetti, but it is too spicy for most of my kids and for sure my wife and mother in law.

Raos is ok I guess, I really like the our cousin vinnys sauce if buying store bought that isnt cajun power. LINK

Its a tad sweeter and much more for the type of sauce us as cajuns grew up wiht as he is from donaldsonville and its more of a sicialian sauce than almost all the others. its much thicker than any other store bought, outside of the cajun power.

I really like doing one cajun power and one yourcousinvinny sauces. I add sweet italian sausage sliced and either meatballs or if I want more of a meat sauce, 1lbs ground beef and 1 pound ground italian sausage. Can add mushrooms too.

Very good and very easy week night meal to feed the whole family for a night or two.

gonna pick up either the chilli starter or chicken stew tonight to cook for the family. Sucks when you are on a diet and they are not lol

I LOVE Our Cousin Vinny's Sauce. I enjoy the sweeter flavor. I plan on trying the Cajun Power Chicken Stew. All of these products discussed are oddly enough available here in Natchez

yea i can get them here in swla too. try 1 cajun power cajun spaghetti with one our cousin vinnys sauce, throw in sliced mushrooms and sliced sweet italian sausage, you wont regret it.

do the above and with a half jar of water in a big alumnuium pan and put in the over at about 225-250 for a couple hours, stirring constantly until it is a dark dark red, almost brown. Its fricking awesome.

I do my homemade sauce similar.
