Passed by this morning and it was just leveled.

Sorry for the lousy picture.

Spent many days there during the summer. Just a short bike ride from my house when I was a kid. The bowling alley nearby had great burgers, too.

A fast food landmark for TD. I'd think a large number of us have eaten there than not.

Friend,

Thank you for sharing this most upsetting news. That was one of the architectural landmarks of Kenner and, indeed, of the Veterans autoplex. I am honored to say I enjoyed several delicious hamburgers and orders of perfect cheese fries there. I do not know if the Preservation Resource Center had any jurisdiction over this part of the Metro, but I am not too pleased they did not petition to have this site preserved. It is indeed a sad day for Kenner and the entire Metro area.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

the Kia Dealership now owns the Bud’s property. They want to connect the two dealerships on each side of the Bud’s building.
The building was originally a franchise called Heap Big Beef. The franchise didn’t last long. It became a Bud’s around 1970.

I'll continue to support Ben's Burgers Soon all Bud's will be a memory like to dodo bird

this was yesterday (6/6) before the demo

Friend,

Thank you for the excellent photos. I wish I had known, for I would have sought to salvage several of those Bud’s windows and the plywood painted facade.

Yours,

Sorry to see this, I loved Bud's. Tried going there 2-3 times but it's been closed forever. I use the one out in Harahan.

What's happened to Bud's, friend.

They seem to have become completely horrid overall. I know they weren't always everyone's cup of tea, but I could appreciate them for what they were.

Last I went to that Canal-City Park location I tossed everything after a couple of bites.

Watching this one go seems like just another nail in their coffin.

The reason for the building's unusual shape -

Before it was a Bud's it was a "Heap Big Beef" with an Indian theme and was shaped like a teepee.

Check in if you have eaten at the Heap Big Beef.

I did.

It was still there yesterday afternoon, but there was Demolition Diva equipment next to it.

It had closed 2 or 3 years ago.

Wonder why it took them so long to finally knock it down?

The Kia Dealership and Peake are not owned by the same company.

Ida heavily damaged the roof, and they needed to replace the entire HVAC in the building. The property deal was sweeter than the repairs.

Now, why the Manhattan location hasn't returned post Covid, that's a better question. Only Bud's on the 'wank and no similar property damage issues that I know of.

Damn that’s a shame. Many good #4’s consumed there

How many Buds are even left now? Causeway, Covington, Jefferson?

Correct. Kia is owned by premier automotive Troy Duhon, while Peake is owned by Martin Peake!

I think it has been a couple months now. Originally there was a note on the door about not having staff. That kept on until I see Google maps has it listed as permanently closed.
