My only suggestion is that you arrive at the restaurant after 4:45 to avoid the rush.

Have only been once, 11 years ago, now. There was a moderately acceptable pizza joint in downtown.

Good luck with this.
Cantina Laredo at Branson Landing was a recommendation I got from this board years ago. It was the only great meal I had there.
Billy Gails is a cool spot to eat for breakfast, assuming you have kids.
Branson is what it is, God bless you ??

I recommend finding a place that has bbq pits and just cooking outside with some beer.

You saw correctly
It might be better now, but when I was there in late January most of the places weren't even open because of the offseason + covid. As someone else posted, Billy Gail's is pretty good if you want breakfast. I had BBQ at Danna's BBQ and while the folks there were super nice, the food didn't leave a great impression. My only advice is to make sure the places you decide to go to are actually open and have a couple of backups. Hopefully everything is back open by now...

I'm a frequent Branson visitor but I've never tried the pizza place that most people rave about, Mr. Gs downtown.
As recent as Dec some surprisingly good sushi and hibachi at Wakyoto which is in a strip plaza on 76. Also had a decent burger at the distillery at Branson Landing, nothing fancy just a burger and a beer.
I usually gorge myself on succotash at SDC and then drink the rest of my meals. There are just so many places and dang near every one of them have mixed reviews.

A few miles south of Branson, but the best restaurant I have been to around there is the one in the Big Cedar Lodge.
