Looking for a good reliable place that sells fresh, local (gulf) fish. Are there any decent seafood markets around?

Why anyone would be afraid to go here after dark is beyond me.

Tony’s is fine. They have all kinds of cops there when it’s open.

You drive to Tony's and park in the lot and walk in in front of a police officer at 7pm. You leave and get in your car in front of a police officer.

Are you expecting to get shot up in your car on your way out or something?

I agree, Tony's is safe place to shop, that being said I still would not send my wife there by herself after dark, she takes a wrong turn and/or has car trouble I would be concerned

Whole foods has great fresh seafood, but you will pay dearly for it

Alexanders market and Rouses on Antiock can both be hit or miss

Costco has some great (but not local ) offerings

Plank has bad spots but you make it sound like the parking lot at Tony's is an active warzone

Alexanders on highland is my go to for fresh tuna

Exactly, posters on here are either hypocrites or live their lives as terrified little babies. Oh no a black person, I hope I dont get shot or robbed.

If you can sweet talk someone at Louisiana Seafood Exchange to sell you a retail portion, they have everything.

Whole Foods also has some decent fish but pricey. We really need a high end fish monger in BR.

I actually felt more in danger leaving the Off the Hook's parking lot, having to make a right turn from a complete stop on a steep hill while trying to merge into 70mph traffic on Airline. I dearly miss the place, but hated the location just because of that.

I am not scared to shop at Tony's seafood, its just not the most ideal location to visit, which is why they have a cop there at all times.

Saturday Tony’s had two kinds of snapper, grouper , redfish, drum, bonito, and speckle trout. All were cleaned, but head still on and in ice. Of course, they also had gaspergou if you like that ....

There was a poster here a while back that was interested/looking to open a high end fish monger/ oyster store. I wonder what ever happened to that.
