I picked this up yesterday to make with my short ribs. I never had them before. I liked the way they came out.

I made creamy, cheese grits with replacing half the water with half&half, and added smoked gouda and parm.

Funny thing is, there’s no instructions on the package. I had to go to their website for cooking instructions, which is 3:1 liquid ratio. Bring liquid to boil, add grits, stir for 5 mins, then lower heat, cover for 20 mins.

Their website not only has the cooking instructions, but many recipes, including shrimp & grits

I believe Frank Brigsten uses those grits and may use the cornmeal for fried fish. I think I asked about the products some time ago.

I followed the instructions, but I did add maybe another 1/2 cup of half&half after cooking because they were super thick, and I hadn’t added the cheeses yet

Where did you purchase them? Used to buy them at the farmers market downtown, but I haven't seen him there in ages, over a decade ago. His cornmeal was good too.

Alexander’s and Harvest have them. I’m not sure who else. It maybe on their website.

***edit***

The stores are not listed on their website, but you can buy it on their website

I want to say I’ve bought them at Calandro’s. Or maybe the farmers market downtown.

Both are near me, I haven't seen them at Calandro's, which I know better, but I'll checkout both. Thanks

I usually go 4:1 half milk, half water and cook for at least 20-25 minutes.

So you paid probably 10 dollars and figured out that grits with half and half and a bunch of cheese are really good?

Your comment makes no sense.

The grits are $5.99.

I make “gourmet” grits all the time with shrimp or short ribs.

I was just making this post because this brand of grits are really good (I’ve never used them before). If you think putting half and half and cheese in instant grits will taste the same as these, you are wrong.

If you are buying them at Calvins, definitely grab some Kalyn's Pimento to add to 'em.

A lil heavy cream and a touch of BtB Chicken flavor helps too.

I was watching “Chopped” yesterday, and one of the basket ingredients was pimento cheese. The guy added it to grits. The judges said it was awesome. I will have to try this one day.

Kalyn's Pimento at home, is my amateur attempt at replicating the quality of Elsie's cheese grits.
