She’s a pain in the arse. I can’t watch any of them.

Eater is great-the Brooklyn butcher guys do a good job.

If I want strictly cooking videos I prefer Food Wishes and Chef John. He has tons and most are less than ten minutes. I’m not watching anyone tell me how to fry chicken or make curry for 30 minutes.

Or watch Jacques Pepin.

My favorite was the downfall of Alex Delany with all of his smug quips on social media only for it to come out he had a Confederate Flag birthday cake and used a homosexual slur in a skit.

Twitter was not kind and cancel culture came for one of its allies quickly.

I like Delany but I love seeing the woke get eaten alive. He's too smug to realize that cancel culture is bad, and will double down on the wokeness but it was fun reading his posts trying to get out of it.

I love Delaney and all his douchey smugness People were melting down about the white patriarchy and how he doesn’t deserve the job he has once the cake came out. Thought that was pretty wack.

FWIW, the cake was actually a joke because his friend was moving to South Carolina. They were actually making fun of the types of people that like confederate flags.. But the internet ignored that bit.

What’s funny is they hated on him for being a white “bro” and perpetuating “white bro culture” (LMAO), but most actual white bros would probably not claim his hyper-liberal self.

I'm going to have to read this interview, Sohla was one of my favorite people in the Test Kitchen, especially outside of the main people like Brad and Molly. She seemed like she would be cool to hang out with and just a nice person in general.

She might otherwise be a decent person outside of the situation. The way they all rallied around her could certainly mean she’s normally really cool... or they just wanted to make sure to come off as woke as possible in light of the events unfolding.

It’s very possible she truly did feel slighted and truly did think it was a race thing. But she chose a horrible way to go about it.

Ultimately, when you’ve been somewhere 6 months and your title is Associate, you have to understand a person who has been there 5 years and has the title Senior is going to make more money than you.

This would be like a receptionist being mad the sales team goes to a yearly conference in Miami.

Binging with babish was a good creation but once he started basics with babish he was basically just ripping off kenji and Alton brown recipes almost verbatim- he would give them credit but doubt they’re getting any $. Anyway kenji did an ama a couple months ago and someone asked him about Babish and he was very diplomatic, but what I found funny was that he said he was a great video producer and personality but did not call him a good or great cook/chef.

Jacques Pepin's little cooking videos on FB are sweet, and practical. I don't usually watch random cooking videos, but he's got that reassuring, French, I've done this 1,000 times, vibe that is refreshing. I don't want to watch young amateur cooks fumble....I'd rather see a pro.

I just read the Vulture interview, and yeah I dislike her for that. Her shot at Brad being a "bug dumb white guy" lost me. I fully support her in the fact that she probably faced discrimination in the food world for her race and gender, it's ultimately a profession still run by old, white, a-hole men, and she has talked about her experiences for years, but if Brad's videos are constantly getting the most views maybe there is a reason other than "muh racism and misogyny."

The taking a job for a certain salary then getting mad at the salary part always came off dumb as well. Presumably a job there leads to other sponsorships and guest appearances to make money. The exposure in the Test Kitchen is massive.

This is the part that I don't get. Like many journalism/arts jobs that provide lots of exposure, you're not going to get rich (at all) from your salary. You've got to use that exposure to monetize other venues.

I honestly don’t want to support any of these fricking people anymore, take one of the few happy joyful sources of casual YouTube entertainment and ruin it over some random chick who didn’t like her own negotiated salary.

She’s crappy all around. I’m a huge Babish fan, but his episodes with her are awful. I couldn’t finish any of them.

But yeah. I joined Molly’s Patreon following for $5/month. She was my fave.

I loved Molly too, but she was the worst virtue signaler of them all.

Exactly. I don’t want to support BA because the brand deserves the fall for bowing to the talent

And I don’t want to support Molly, Claire, etc. because they joined in the SJW brigade.

Just sucks overall, but life goes on. Been watching more camping videos recently instead

Yeah, I really don't understand how she was developing such a cult following on the BA subreddit right before everything happened. I found her incredibly boring, and half the time I couldn't understand her because she whispered.

People talk about her having dry humor, and she may, but she can't keep my attention long enough for me to find out.

Once everything blew up and people really took her side hard, it made me like her even less. The subreddit was insufferable.

I didnt follow all the drama surrounding these pseudo celebrities. all I care about is if the content is informative, concise, and mildly entertaining. Give me chef john all damn day. I was happy he didn't put his old recipes behind the pay wall. I like stella parks and kenji for their scientific approaches on classics. I got tired of most of the munchies stuff pretty quickly other than the taco show.

Bump.

Shock of the century in this post from Gaby - Sohla not seeming to be the victim she claimed to be.
